I would like to find a small printer to take to crops to print out journaling. Sometimes I am working on a special page and don't want to handwrite. I have a Selphy but that is for photos.

I've never taken a printer, but take my Epson Picturemate photo printer all the time. But it's small like your Selphy.
I print my journaling a lot too, but I just wait to finish it when I get home.
I'm curious to see what others have to say.

I print my journaling on to journaling cards with my Epson Picturemate at crops and it works just fine. I bet your Selphy would, too. I just use some removable adhesive to attach the journaling card to a piece of card stock and it works great.

no, but I take my electric typewriter- lol!! (I got it a couple years ago at an estate sale for $20.) I usually set it up at the side of the room somewhere, and anyone else who wants to can also use it.
ETA: I have a Selphy too, and while it *might* work, I wouldn't use it for printing out journaling (unless you actually want to print your journaling on one of the photo paper sheets). The ink technology is different than usual printer ink; the ink is 'film' on a 'roll' in red, blue, and yellow sections, and the ink/paper comes as 'sets' so I wouldn't want to waste the ink cartridge on just text.

I print from my phone to a photo printer, so I would think you could do something similar with your Selphy...

I have in the past. But, now I do my journaling with my Cameo or by hand.

In your example, I just do the journaling when I get home. I wouldn't want to bother with packing it, getting it set up, then breaking it back down. Generally, when I print my journaling, I'm just fitting it into a space I've already left on my LO.
FWIW, whenever I've moved a printer, especially if got jostled around, it took awhile for it to print properly again. Even my Selphy acts up on the first few photo prints when I move it.

I do my journaling by computer and just print at home. I don't think my selphy would be great for printing journaling.

I travel as light as possible, so I print my journaling ahead of time if I can, and add the sheet with journaling to the appropriate homemade kit that I plan to use.

I bought a small printer for crops. Although my handwriting is nice, I sometimes prefer printed journaling. I often have long explanations/journaling especially on heritage layouts.
That being said, I only take it when I go to retreats or two day crops. I usually page plan ahead of time and just leave a space for the journaling and finish it at home. I put a sticky note in the spot I need the journaling in case I don't get back to it for awhile.
I have an Epson 400.

Oh snap! Now I'm going to have to go on a quest for a good ol' fashioned typewriter! But to answer the OP I do not take a printer. I take the pictures I plan to crop packaged up with the paper and stuff I plan to scrap it with. I agree that sometimes when I unplug my little printer it doesn't like being moved/unplugged/plugged in.
