I need a new printer (not a photo printer). I need it to make copies of directions for page kits. I need to make a lot of copies with a 5 x 8 (ish) color picture of the completed layout. Since I will be making hundreds of color copies, I would love one that has cheap(er) ink. Any ideas?

I found my Kodak to be good value for that, but they're so slow (as in haven't in years), updated the software so it has stopped talking to my Mac... I bought an Epson to replace it, and it hasn't been long enough to say how it compares...
If you're making copies and have the time, I'd think that making copies at a print shop/Staples type place would be cheaper... The Staples near me is great - just drop off the files on a jump drive and they'll print, collate, staple, whatever you want done... But they also have self-serve colour photocopiers and I think those are even cheaper... I'd say buy a printer you love, even if it's a touch more expensive per page, and then only print one copy at home and use Staples to make the additional copies...

A color laser copier would be a good option, or if you can get an inkjet printer that you can connect to bulk ink tanks would be more cost effective than a regular inkjet printer that takes small ink cartridges or color copies at a copy place (they are expen$ive!!). I've gone through so many printers it's not even funny. What has been most cost effective for me is to use a regular b/w laser printer for the text and get 4x6 photos printed at Costco for .13 each (and sometimes they go on sale for .09 each). It was much cheaper to go that route than to pay what amounted to about .39 per color page to print them at home, especially since the high capacity ink tanks for my current Epson color printer run about $30 EACH. Ouch when I have to replace all four at once! ETA: I found this link which gives a pretty good overview of continuous ink supply systems, maybe this will be helpful to you!
