I was at Michaels a few weeks ago and saw that were selling magnetic albums. Does anyone know if they are like the old magnetic albums? They are just awful on pictures. I saw a lady with four or five in her cart and just bit my lip.

I know, right?!?!?! I saw them on a huge sale rack, too, and almost couldn't believe my eyes.

Some magnetics these days are being made acid free, but I'd never use them. I'd have said something to that lady (and I have in the past), just so she could make an informed choice.

The ones Pioneer makes are acid free according to their description. Here's the thing - the lady probably doesn't care about acid free or whatever else. She just wants to get her photos into albums.
I used to buy the cheapest magnetic albums I could find and as a result my pictures were damaged. But my mom had some magnetic albums that were higher quality with acid free pages and they were fine. I look at my boxes of photos that I have pulled from cheap magnetic albums and frankly, an acid free version seems like a good option until I can get them scrapped.
I think people have good intentions when it comes to scrapping, but it has come down to getting them into a book where they can be enjoyed.

I think being a scrapper I am a little sensitive to what can really ruin your pictures. I think my magnetic albums were horrible and just assumed they all are.

Even if they are acid free, that sticky stuff that holds the photos on the page can leave residue on the back side of the top protector, and I wouldn't want that sticky stuff on the front of my photos. I'm not a fan of magnetic albums at all.

I saw these too. I wouldn't use the magnetic papers, but the albums were super cute.

I saw them yesterday. The albums are cute. They also had PL type pages if you don't want to use the magnetic ones.
