I was so sure it was going to be the Skye Terrier or the Portuguese Water Dog that I gasped when the judge said Beagle.

I missed it last night. I saw the winner in the paper this morning and was so surprised to see that a beagle had won!
She is adorable! ( Says this totally unbiased beagle owner. LOL)

We were camping and I forgot to set up the dvr before we left. But I've been watching juniors online. Congratulations to our fellow 4-H club member Christian for coming in second in Junior Showmanship with his golden!

I have helped out at a show with the labrador who took group and his handler has had my oldest dog(Poppy) out on the road previously. It's always cool to see people you know doing something like this!

I'm friends with a lot of dog show people so it's been fun reading the updates and all the related to our we know dogs and exhibitors

The German Shepard dog was really cool. Didn't they say he was a rescue dog, with the Seattle PD I thought they said. Yea excited for the ones tonight. The GSD was a female and not a rescue . She is from Edgarton, WI, so wouldn't be with teh Seattle PD. Just watched the video again and there was no mention of her being a rescue dog, though they spent a good bit of time discussing how GSD were used for rescues during 9/11. Here is her pedigree: GCH Lockenhaus' Rumor Has It V Kenlyn Breed: German Shepherd Dog Sex: Bitch AKC: DN 33397401 Date of Birth: November 15, 2011 Breeder: Pamela McElheney & Kent Boyles Sire: GCH Karizma's Ike Of Edale Dam: Ch Lockenhaus Isis V Kenlyn HiCliff Owner: Pamela McElheney & Kent Boyles & Deborah Stern Ok I know I tried to look it up yesterday. I probably only heard half of it. Happy with the final results though. I hope we see more of the German Sheperd and the Sheep dog!

It's funny how the long, fancy names reflect the parentage/lineage. You never see a pedigree like : Sam's black dog or Blackdog's uncle.

We had so much fun picking out our dogs registered name All of our previous Samoyeds were purebred but because we got them to be pets we never registered them. Our 6 month old Samoyed is Moonstar's Midknight Ryder. His call name (daily name) is Ryder which is the first name we picked and built around. I love his fancy name Our GSD's name is Nita Vom Anjerhaus (Vom = from and Anjerhaus is the name of her kennel).

i finally got my dogs in color! I like the Beagle's name Miss P. Did anyone see her on the View today? I don't watch the View but I did this morning since they usually have the winner on. I liked this article from USA today on her win. Miss P

That is adorable and made me LOL We were too lazy to give Kenai and Koda fun or cool registered names!

I love his fancy name Our GSD's name is Nita Vom Anjerhaus (Vom = from and Anjerhaus is the name of her kennel). Both our Belgians have been imports. Kennels in Europe name the puppies when they are registered - before you get them. Each year is a specific letter of the alphabet, so all the puppies with have a name beginning with that letter followed by the kennel's name. So all we got to do was pick the call name, which in both cases had absolutely nothing to do with their registered name. My first was born in a "K" year and registered Kiwi, but was called Yankee. The second was born in a "Y" year and registered Yessie, but called Dandy. (There was a cat named Doodles at the time. ) DH's French Brittany is a US dog, so he got the fun of picking a name for him. If we get a US Belgian this next time, I already have a long, fancy name picked out! I've noticed many of the bigger GSD breeders alphabetize their litters too I follow a couple of them on Facebook. We had never purchased a show quality dog so I wasn't even sure who picked the name for our Samoyed. I had to ask the breeder. Well I actually sent her what I wanted when I asked to see if I could sell her on our name She liked it and just made one change to the spelling to go with other names on his pedigree.

I believe it was the Beauceron that they said was a Search and Rescue dog. They also said the Anatolian was a working guardian dog... both of which is awfully hard to do while campaigning enough to qualify for Westminster! I know if my livestock guardian took the weekend off for a dog show, the coyotes would have a dinner party! I did compete in herding with my Collie that went to Westminster, but her herding weekends were few and far between (like only when they cooincided with her being totally out of coat, AND trained for the next level)!

I must have gotten confused when I watched the Berner breed judging, because the dog who was in the group ring was NOT the dog I thought won the breed. Which, actually was a relief because I was NOT a fan of the one I thought won!
