My kids and I watch this every year. Tonight will be the hound, toy, non-sporting and herding groups. Coverage begins at 8pm on Animal Planet here in Canada (not sure about other networks). Tomorrow evening will be the working, sporting and terrier groups, as well as best in show.
As always, we will be rooting for the German Shepherd and Shih Tzu (our current dogs).

Thanks for the heads up! I love to watch Westminster. I am always rooting for the dachshunds and German Shepherd. My two favorite breeds. It comes on at 7pm CT on CNBC tonight and Tuesday night at 7pm CT on USA. Kind of weird that they are switching channels from one night to the next this year.

Thanks for the reminder! I love to see all the different breeds. I'm more of a cat person, but I love to watch dog shows! I have such a hard time picking a favorite. I love white Bull Terriers, Papillons, Yellow Labs, Pomeranians, and Samoyeds in particular. I was watching a rerun on Saturday and could not believe the size of the heads on some of the mastiff and mastiff-type breeds. The Dogue de Bourdeaux had the biggest, jowliest face I've ever seen on an animal.

You're welcome. Two new breeds this year, the Coton de Tulears and the Wirehaired Vizsla, I am familiar with the Cotons and with the regular Vizsla but not the wire-haired variety. I always like when they introduce new breeds into the line up. Z*G, yes, some of those mastiffs are huge!

I am rooting for Pete and Jerry - the rough Collie! Pete is a friend and Jerry is a lovely young dog! Smooth Collie winner was handled by a Jr handler, who did a lovely job. I only showed my dog one year, it was an experience! My friend won the herding group that year with her GSD, Windwalker's Yes Virginia - fun night, though she didn't go Best In Show! Always SO much fun to watch LIVE! My local MO friends show tomorrow in working breeds - hope they win! Next year, their other breed will be the new kids, Berger Picards - quite the unique breed!

I have to pull for Cinder, the Border Terrier, because she is bred, owned, and shown by our friend and dog trainer, Karen Fitzpatrick. Her Border Terrier took Best in Breed a couple of years ago. (Although secretly I always pull for the retrievers)

Woohoo for the shih tzu!!! Although we keep Remy the killer shih tzu trimmed in a puppy cut, I could never keep up with that fancy hairdo!

That Shih Tzu had the most amazing coat! And while I am always partial to the Pom and Havanese, that dog was so deserving of the win! I was wondering why the Pekinese was excused? Anyone know? Also one of my favorites.

We love watching. I do hate the group that Bulldogs are in, they always seem to lose to a poodle. Bentley the Bulldog was robbed.

I don't know if they go as a toy dog or with the mastiff's group. They had the wrinkle dog last night with the herding group I think. I saw him but I would think they could put the bulldog with him.

Also one of my favorites. It was a very young dog and it was too much for the dog to handle. They said the handler always knows when to bow out because the dog will not show properly. I am glad they allow that. No reason to force the dog to show when it doesnt want to.

Watched this late last night (might have been a rebroadcast). Swagger (the Old English Sheepdog) was a gorgeous dog but I also loved the German Shepard who came in 4th place. I'm partial to GSD as I had one for 14 years, my dear Holly who passed away a few years ago. They are such intelligent dogs. The GED on last night had such a beautiful gait as he/she was trotting (is that what you call it in dogs?) around the ring. When will the Working Dogs group be on? Did I miss that or will it be on tonight? I always watch out for the Bernese Mountain Dog because my parents have one, and the first dog we ever had when I was 8 years old was a St. Bernard. My family likes big dogs A dog's not a dog unless he's at least hip high in our house, well at least that's what we're used to They sure do eat a lot though. Debbie in MD.

Tonight is my favorite night - I love all three groups (though Working is my favorite). Just watched the Bernese Mountain Dog breed judging online and am not super excited about the winner. Don't think we'll be seeing a Berner in the BIS ring this year. But I'll still be rooting for him in group I'll also be pulling for the Cairn Terrier and the Vizsla. birukitty: Working, Terrier and Sporting groups are tonight.

The German Shepard dog was really cool. Didn't they say he was a rescue dog, with the Seattle PD I thought they said. Yea excited for the ones tonight.

I've never come across a rescue group that didn't require the dog to be spayed/neutered before placement. ETA: Oh... I see your clarification. Lots of the dogs are active working dogs! A GSD without a job to do is probably not going to be a very happy dog!

Thanks BusyPea. Sorry to hear your report on the Berner online judging today. What did you think about the Berner who made the best of breed last year? I thought he/she was beautiful and an excellent example of the breed. Do you have one yourself?

The BOB this year isn't *bad*, I just thought there were better examples in the ring. In particular, I didn't love the movement on this one. But I also didn't put my hands on the dogs, so who knows what's going on under all that fur We do not have a Berner presently, but we had one for 10 years. We will get another one in the future. I just couldn't have a second Berner directly after our other one died. No one ever could have lived up to Lily. Now, enough years have passed that I could have another. But our current dog, a Cairn Terrier, probably wouldn't be very welcoming, so a Berner will most likely have to wait until he passes.

I understand. I'm so sorry for your loss of Lily.
My parents lost their first Berner Albert to cancer at the age of 4. My father was utterly devastated. It was very sudden and unexpected. For him the answer was to find a top notch breeder after doing even more research than he did the first time (when he thought he'd found the best breeder he could find) and get a puppy as soon as he could to ease the pain. Max joined the household almost 4 years ago. He is extremely healthy and such a love bug (these dogs are so loving and friendly, aren't they?). When I visit, which is fairly often, our routine is I have to sit immediately on their sofa and he launches himself on top of the sofa and tries to sit on my lap like a lap dog, licking my face, ears and hands and letting me know how much he has missed me.
I would have one if I could in a minute, but DH doesn't really want another dog, sadly. So I live vicariously through Max, who loves me like I'm his own anyway.
Debbie in MD.

Yes, I heard that and was actually shocked he did that too. Cool! And I laughed at the commentator from the first night. In the non-sporting group he said "And there is the chow." It was not a chow it was a Keeshond. I have had 3; I know! I wonder if anyone called him on that other than me.
