I've been out of the loop- decided to torture myself and go back to school Not much time to scrap... Just wondering how many have gone the way of doing the mix media on their layouts?

I do, sometimes. About 10% of my layouts, perhaps?

I've been experimenting with mixed media in my art journal. It's been a lot of fun!

Love it when other people do it, love the look of it when other people do it. Love doing it. I just do not like it when I do it. It is just not me. If I do it it is just a wee bit. It is not my comfort zone. Yet I love watching videos of people doing it , making it look so effortless and fun.

I've been experimenting with mixed media lately. It's been hit and miss. More misses than hits. I'm still having a hard time with the papers warping and tearing from all the paints, inks, mists, and just plain water. Another thing that is holding me back is the amount of "stuff" you need to have to create the gorgeous mixed media pages you see on youtube.

I love using mixed media with art journaling and sometimes on layouts. I love how free it is. Just jump in and try it.

I do with my art journals, but not so much on my pages. I do occasionally use some of the techniques on my layouts but nothing like Patter's. You should check out her blog and see her layouts, they're very pretty.

I am branching out into Mixed Media in my scrapbooks- I joined a Facebook group The Documented Life project-- We are doing a mixed media journal all year- with weekly challenges- it's a great place to learn to be comfortable in using those fun tools and mediums! I am learning Gellatos- spray inks with stencils, acrylic paint, (finally using all my stamps too!) I've learned about Gesso and Matte Medium- Pitt Pens, WHite pens that work on what surface--- just by experimenting. Can't wait to incorporate my new found "talents" <choke choke- uh hem> in my books...a little at a time. Try it in a journal so you don't have to worry about the "misses" and learn how to make more "hits!"

I started an art journal this year and it's been a lot of fun experimenting with paints, mists, and stencils, etc. As a result, a lot of the new techniques I've learned transferred onto my scrap pages.
I really like the look and now I feel like my pages look naked without some sort of mixed media look. I'm also slightly addicted to watching youtube videos of art journaling. There's so much talent and inspiration out there. I think it's made me a more a lot less structured scrapbooker, if I ever was one!

I love to watch the mixed media you tube videos ,however, it's just not for me. I do only mists and sometimes paint around a border.

I love doing mixed media projects. I feel like I can just do anything! Lol! And I never feel like that with any other creative projects I do.

I am loving using modeling paste on layouts and creating my own stencils. Not so sure about other stuff yet.

I have been art journaling for years, pretty addicted to it, but there is very little carryover to my scrapbooking.

I have dabbled in it recently. Love the process but almost never like the final pages as much as non-mixed media pages. I don't dislike them though so will keep dabbling!

My first layout was done Creative Memories style at a CM crop/party. My second layout went mixed media (stamping, chalk, a computer printed poem in multiple fonts, glitter, and a bumpersticker) My third layout had acrylic paint on it. That was back in 1998 or so. Not all of my layouts are mixed media as it does take longer to complete but I've done it since before it was trendy.
Even non Creative Memories people would tell me it wouldn't last which didn't make sense to me. I had mixed media projects I had done in the 1970s still in pristine condition. Museums have mixed media displays that are even older.
