It is so good to see what a wonderful and responsible young woman she is becoming. I love watching her Dad's TV shows and was so sad when he passed away.

I hope my daughter has as much sense when she is 16.

Wow someone with sense! I mean the last time I went to the mall I saw more a$$es on teenaged girls than ever! I know I sound like a cow but shorts that short? Not that necessary. Neither is a burqa. Just something in the middle.

Couldn't agree with her more.
Last night there was an Avicii concert (show? I guess he's a DJ not a performer? dunno) in Boston and dozens of people were taken to the hospital and one of the local news guys this morning on his little sound off bit was slamming these teens/young adults. Over 50 of those treated were aged 16-19 so underaged and he said "Rule #1, put some clothes on! If your butt cheeks and your boobs are not covered by your outfit, you're not covered enough!"
Honestly - where can you buy shorts that cover your butt anymore? I shop in the fat girl stores and the shortness of the shorts horrifies me.

It's pretty refreshing. I have been amazed at the young ladies who go to church with their parents with shorts cut up to their crotches and boobs and bellies hanging out of their tops. They are totally unaware of how inappropriate it is to dress that way at a place of worship.

And then some 'actress' who, if I've not heard of her in the UK given the soap she was in, is probably completely off the radar in the States, decided to share her views! Unless you are keeping up with the "Free The Nipple" movement

Good for her! There is nothing wrong with a little modesty.

I applaud girls that dress more modestly, even though it can be difficult to find good clothes.
My ds went to the Avicii concert last night, his first & I was amazed to see what the girls were wearing....
He had fun, but OMG, it was a big party. He & his buddy aren't drinkers or partiers, but everyone kept going up to friend asking for dope, or a lighter. Very eye opening for them.

She's not asking girls to hide their bodies either. She is just saying dress nice. Torn cut offs?? Really? Just because you can doesn't mean you should...
But then again I don't have a daughter and I should STFU maybe. I would feel differently if I did maybe?

It is hard to find appropriately modest clothes in reasonably priced stores. Now that she has "graduated" to juniors sizes, my 11 year old walks through department stores shaking her head at all of the clothes that are much too short for her.

Put your hiney back in your pants, tuck your boobs away, and put a smile on your face to give people something to look at.

I love her. She seems to really have a good head on her shoulders. She uses common sense. Nothing wrong with that!

My DD is only about 6 and I cringe thinking about what is to come. We have already had to talk about too short skirts, ugh!

DH is more freaked out about it than I am though...DD had on a dress that came down to her knees the other day, perfectly modest, perfectly acceptable. He thought it was too short. I asked her if she should be wearing something ankle-length, he said yes

Little biker shorts have become our friend under skirts and dresses. Then I felt totally retro, ha!

Also if a dress or skirt is so short and I can see your underwear it is too short. I love short skirts. They are cute and cool in summer and all and people who have great legs wow lucky you....but underwear is off limits. At all times.

She walked out of her room and I immediately sent her back to change out of her it was skin tight and super short, although not underwear showing. Thankfully, she's pretty modest herself and was only too happy to change out of it. She told me as we were walking through the mall one day "Mom, I don't understand why girls wear certain clothes...a lot of times it doesn't look good and they're showing a lot that others don't need to see. People can get the wrong impression..." I was kinda like when I heard her say that because even though we've steered her toward more modest clothing, we've haven't commented on other people's choices and how they can be perceived.

There was a study done recently about "pseudomaturity" in middle schoolers and they found that the kids who were "cool" in middle school (wearing makeup, flouting rules, wearing sophisticated clothing etc...) did poorly in life compared to their more modest, less mature counterparts. I'll have to see if I can find it and link it. It was very interesting.

Do not even get me started. My husband took his 12 yr old shopping and she came home with what can only be described as denim underwear. No way in hell she's leaving my house like that. I took them, tags still on, straight to Goodwill. She never even had a chance to wear them, and he got an education into what a 12 yr old will buy if you leave her alone in a store. And the tight tops? OMG. Girl, you wear a size medium. Buy that. Don't squish yourself into a size S because your BFF is a pageant queen and 26 lbs dripping wet. You're bigger than that, wear clothes that FIT.
I {heart} Bindi. She needs to come over here and talk some sense into 99.9% of the teenagers, lol!!

I read the article earlier and completely agree with her I have a 25 yr old dd that is 6' and a 15 yr old that is shorter but still all legs and it has been hard finding clothes for them. Hard, but not imporssible Even at 25 my oldest dd still dresses without anything hanging out. I'm really proud of both of them for being stylish and classy at the same time. ~ Dori ~

Denim cutoffs and crop tops have their place - the beach, the pool or the water park.
I am having a heck of time trying to find appropriate white denim shorts for myself and I'm 26. I don't want something long like bermuda shorts, just regular mid thigh length shorts! Everything has a three inch inseam. Uh, yea, I'd like a little more fabric than that.
And please don't get me started on the high waisted shorts trend. I thought we left those behind.

My beef is leggings with a short top. Not a good look on anyone over the age of 6. I tell all my HS students I'm allergic to bees. If I see your butts, bellies or boobs my eyes will cross and I'll start foaming at the mouth.

Not entirely "scientific evidence" but, holy goodness, that definitely fits the kids I knew from middle and high school.
