I have been moving toward clean eating...I'd say I'm 85% clean now. I have two questions:
1. What do you put in your morning coffee? I love the flavored liquid creamer, but it is not even close to clean. I need to find a better alternative. This is my last big hurdle at home!
2. What do you order at restaurants? I'm a social person, so if a friend calls me to go out for lunch, I will. But, I really struggle with what to order. If you try to eat clean, what do you order? So far, I've just been ordering whatever I want, but I'm finding that as I eat better and better, I feel really crappy after a restaurant meal. I know I won't stop going out, so I'm looking for suggestions!
I don't have any foods I can't eat (as far as allergies or anything). My rules for clean eating are that it must be a real food (eg. a fruit or veggie), or if there is an ingredient list, it has to be all real foods, and generally 5 ingredients or less. I know many follow stricter rules than that, but for starting out, this is what I follow. I'm sure as I get better, I can cut out even more.
Thanks!

Well I'm far from a clean eater, but I'm trying to do better at restaurants by ordering dinner sized salads most of the time. It helps getting my veggies in, it's a lot better (appetizing and taste wise) than what I'd make at home and it still gives me that feeling of a restaurant meal. I guess if you did balsamic and oil dressing (is that considered clean?) for dressing rather than a prepared one with dehydrated herbs and sodium.

I use organic half & half - it is my indulgence!
Recently tried bulletproof coffee and liked it. Use a blender and it is like a latte.

I just wanted to say good luck in your healthy pursuits.
I don't eat nearly clean enough and know I should.

I do my best, but I still do the liquid creamer. If you wanted a "clean" alternative, then organic whipping cream, milk, or half & half would be your go-to.

As far as restaurants , I try and look at the menu before. I find a lot of places in my area are geared to clean eating.

I don't know how much of this will be helpful to you as I follow a fairly restricted diet. I eat vegan and clean, minimal added sugar, whole grains whenever possible, loosely following the forks over knives "diet." That was at least what got me started on my change in diet. If you are looking for something to replace your coffee creamer, have you thought about milk (either cow's or an alternative) with a dash of vanilla extract?
A lot of times at restaurants I end up just getting veggies and a salad with vinaigrette on the side, unless I'm going out with my mom. We both enjoy trying new foods, and we will look for a restaurant that has a couple good options for me. I have found that I do pretty well with ethnic restaurants.

Thank you for the replies so far! Salads have been my go-to so far...I'll stick with them. It's when I order something else that it makes me feel crappy afterwards.

Clean eating must really be taking off - I noticed Coffee-Mate has come out with a all natural creamer - the vanilla one contains milk, heavy cream, sugar and vanilla. Definitely not healthy, but not the plethora of unpronounceable chemicals that are in their regular creamer. I like sweet coffee - so sugar in my coffee is my indulgence.

For me 'clean' is minimal processing.
Cream in my coffee.
I don't eat deserts or breads/pizzas at restaurants and any food I tend to order is cooked from scratch so clean enough.

I've learned to drink my coffee black. I actually started doing that years ago before I changed my diet.
As far as eating out, I totally understand what you mean. I find that even eating a salad often leaves me feeling gross. We have greatly changed the types of restaurants we eat at. We do not eat at Denny's, IHOP, Shari's anymore. We like to find local places that make their food from scratch. We've found a few locally, but traveling is harder. Panera Bread and some pizza places are usually better options. Chipolte is also a better option. If we can't be pickier about the place, then I'll order a simple salad and I will have them hold the dressing. I'll either eat my salad with no dressing, as I think it's often the cheap vegetable oils that make me feel so crummy. Sometimes, if they have it, I'll just sprinkle vinegar and a bit of salt on my salad for flavor. But all in all, I much prefer to choose restaurants that have a higher quality, cleaner ingredient list to begin with.
I prepare nearly everything in our house from scratch, bread, tortillas, syrups for mochas, really everything....

I just one day decided to start drinking my coffee black--and I LOVED flavored creamers. Every once in a great while, I'll have one that way, but I'm happy drinking it black.
I generally don't eat at chain restaurants or things like that--if I do, I generally order something simple. Other restaurants I find make things more from scratch, so I don't tend to worry too much.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but what about using almond milk as a 'creamer?'
When I dine out I normally order a combination of grilled fish, grilled chicken, fresh vegetables, sweet potato, or salad.
