This is one of our family's favorite pictures. We call it the Kennedy Shot because my dad (in the back) and his brother (in the front) look like Bobby and Jack (it was taken in 1961). My aunt and mom are next to their husbands. I'd love to recreate this on the back of my parents' current boat! A little less hair on the men now for sure.

This is a photo of my maternal grandparents at their 25th wedding anniversary in 1966. I am in the process of restoring it and I am not quite finished so please excuse. In March, It will be 20 years since my grandmother's passing and I have been having a hard time with it. I miss her more than ever!

I don't think I have shared this one before. My dad is the kid in the middle. The man sitting on the right is my Great Grandfather who is known in the U.S. as the father of the Scottish Terrier because he introduced the breed to the U.S. The lady sitting was his 2nd wife. My grandmother and grandfather are standing up. This would have been taken around 1936ish.

This is one of my favorite photos that I have found in recent years. I found this one about 2 years ago. I have shared this before on the old site. My grandmother is the girl kind of standing in the back seat of the car. This is a 1910 photo in their new car. Check out the huge bows on all of the girls heads. LOL That is my grandmother and her two sisters. It is also the only childhood photo that I know of with my grandmother. This is the same grandmother as the other photo. ***ETA and my great grandparents. I have VERY little information about this side of my ancestry so this photo was really special to find.

Crimson Cat---I missed your post yesterday, but I agree that it'd be nice for Bumpea to at least get some STORIES....(again, sorry Bumpea.....I hate to try to imagine NO photos!!!!) Also, how COOL that you'll be interviewing your family members this summer----I also started doing that years ago, all thanks to my obsession with Scrapbooking....seeing all the lovely Heritage albums, reading about things to ask your loved ones in all the scrapbook mags! Made me realize I WISH I had asked my Mom TONSSS of questions about her life before she died!!! Thankfully, my 84-year-old Dad has told me LOTS of great info, which I began by recording on one of those small cassette recorders---(this was about 14 years ago when we started)....And when he visits, he still tells me tidbits and has an EXCELLENT memory!!! It was SOO cool to hear about his very first date, what movie they saw, how much a Coke & Popcorn cost, etc!!! Kath 323----wow, handsome guys!!! And the boat also makes it SO Kennedy-esque!!!

My grandparents who graduated from college together in 1941 from what is now Western Michigan University. A selfie! My grandpa was cool before it was ever called a selfie. My grandma who passed away a month ago. She always had a mischievous smile, even in her 90s.

Awesome thread! I don't have any old photos of my family, at least not to hand - my parents still have most of those. I do have a few of DH's though: This is his paternal grandfather, who was a ship's captain on the Yangtze in China An earlier photo, with his wife, who we believe was a Chinese Jew (there's an interesting mix!) and their home in China...

Love seeing these! This is a photo of my great-grandmother when she was a teenager, around 1910. She is the only great-grandparent I knew, and died when I was 11. In the later part of her life she was an extreme hoarder, and unfortunately that's all I really remember about her, but I love this photo of her looking so young and pretty. Do you look like her? Have we ever seen a pic of you? I feel like she fits the image I have of you in my head (style aside!), but maybe that's my imagination

Here's a photo of my mom from her high school graduation, I believe it was around 1951? Here's one of my dad & his brother when they both heading out to war during WWII (my dad is on the left & my uncle is on the right). My dad was very proud to serve in the Navy and was all over the South Pacific right after Pearl Harbor was bombed. He witnessed the filming of MacArthur when he returned to the Philippines (the photo below the photo of my dad & uncle). Dad said he was sitting on his rowboat drinking sake they found in bags of rice, while MacArthur did 3 takes of that photo!

But I did a side by side, and I think I see some of her in me too . .

What a great history, jennyap. The house looks amazing. My gt. uncle Arthur died aboard ship on the Yangtze in 1900 during the China War. The ship was HMS Hermione. Wouldn't it be incredible if it was your DH's grandfather's ship!!

I loved this thread and would LOVE to see more of your photos! jediannie....WOW---what amazing photos !!!! Yup, he was WAY before his time....think how difficult it was to get a shot like that! summer....he is quite handsome! eebud----LOVE the pik of your family with the CAR! I'm SO thankful to have the photos I have; however, I would LOVE it if there were more THINGS (like cars!) in the piks, because it gives us more of a sense of the era! I already posted my realllllly, REALLLLY old photos, so today---I give you the 1970's with my baby brother in Dewey Beach, Delaware---(any of you that go there, or to Rehoboth, or Bethany Beach every summer....consider me VERY jealous of you!, and please Fed X me some Grotto pizza and Dolle's Caramel Popcorn the next time you go---I will add a HUGE tip !!) Dewey Beach was our FAVORITE place into adulthood. Our last trip there was 2007; and he died in 2009....I adored him! Our family traveled there a few months after he died, and some of his ashes are in the area

Going to add a few...in date order (since they kind of tell a story...I know I've shared one or two before)
Log cabin...the plains of Colorado. Late 1880's. My Great-Grandmother (on my Grandmother's side) is the smallest girl in plaid.

Here she is on her wedding day, September 1910 Her parents are standing rear, and seated right...the same people in the doorway in the log cabin photo.

In direct contrast, here is my Great Grandmother (on my Grandfather's side) in her wedding gown. She was also married in 1910...in Denver. A city girl.

Here come the bows...my Grandmother...these photos are 1915-1916

And finally...a bow (the girl is NOT my Grandmother) and an old car...1918. My Great Grandmother is holding her youngest daughter, my Grandmother is the oldest girl and her brother is on the far right of the photo

And now just a few from the 70's. (actually...they're all probably from 1973'ish)
THIS is why you see the grooved "tracks" on Main Street at WDW.

Here's Pinocchio clearly lacking personal boundries

And my sister and I with these nifty "perfume pins"...you know...you pop the head open and there's crème perfume inside.

As if that brown dress needed any help to fit into the 70's...IIRC it was corduroy. (although I never remember wearing it and being the younger sister...I got ALL the hand-me-downs)

This is a photo of my Grandfather's family. He is the tall one, at 18 years old, and the baby of his family! He was born in 1913, so that makes this photo circa 1931 or so.
