I'm surprised there's nobody with disposable diapers. We go through a lot around here and having to pose like that with them could seriously make me consider cloth diapers!

I too am just curious as to the "why" of these photo shoots?

We are assuming these people are posing with their recyclable stuff included in their trash. Maybe they are not. Maybe they don't recycle at all, and that is the point of this series of photographs.
He is showing us in plain sight what happens when all of this trash is thrown away in the garbage. It has to go somewhere.
I think it's brilliant. Okay, it's not gorgeous to look at but it hits you between the eyes what happens when we don't recycle! This is what is thrown away every week by average families. Here they are and here is their trash. Because they haven't bothered to recycle some of it, which they could have and should have.
Our recycling bin is filled to overflowing every week and our trash bin is about half full. Because I try to recycle whatever I can-it's important!

Same, although the two bins alternate, recycling one week, black(rubbish) bin the next week. The next step I see being introduced is for black bins to be weighed and the homeowner charged accordingly. That will focus the mind!

Wondering why Miles (1st family, guy with the pinstriped suit) is wearing two different colored socks.

Wondering why Miles (1st family, guy with the pinstriped suit) is wearing two different colored socks. Look at his child on the left. Not only are the shoes different colors but they are a different style completely! One slipon and one is a high top.

It seems as though a lot of the trash could be recycled. Ewwww!

We are a family of 4 and we rarely fill our 55 gallon. It is usually less than half full most weeks. We also have 2 recyle "totes" that are crammed full every week.
I am amazed at how much garbage people do accumulate in our neighborhood. We only have the one can and two totes. Some people have 2 or more cans that are past the full point every week. Blows my mind! We have a giant yard debris can, a giant recycle can and a small(I think it is 35 gallons) garbage can. Our yard debris can is usually only half full unless it is leaf season. Our recycle can is always full near over flowing. and our garbage can is full but not too full... We recycle as much as we can. I also send all my cardboard to my husbands shop so he can put it in the card board recycling dumpster.

The pictures are nasty, but interesting. I've always felt this country has a MAJOR trash problem and do my part to recycle/reuse whatever we can. We produce/discard very little trash every week.

There are interesting choices in clothing in some of the pictures. Are the clothes from the trash or recycle too?
