Anybody else to to the CKC Scrapbook convention in Portland this weekend? I did not take any classes, but I did wander the vendor faire. It continues to shrink every year. They get a smaller portion of the floor spaces and the booths are same size so it still feels cramped as you look at stuff. No Basic Grey booth this year. I was hoping to buy some stencils or paints or mists or stamps for art journaling, but there was very little. Lots of old stickers and bling and still brads and eyelets. Art Impressions had a nice demo of using Marvy Markers with a brush for a watercolor technique with rubber stamps.
Anyone take any classes?

I went yesterday. The vendor fair was so disappointing! At least in the past years as the number of vendors decreased, there was still a good selection. This year's was so sad! I did take two classes and enjoyed them. The first was Heart of Gold with My Mind's Eye and American Crafts and taught by Megan Hoeppner. She is always a great teacher. The second was Trendy Techniques with Gossamer Blue. That was a fun class and very technique-based. The Embellish It! booth is the one that always carries the huge selection of Basic Grey but they have cut back on doing conventions/expos due to their kids getting older and needing them closer to home. I do hope there is an upswing in the near future for these events. I will be so sad if they disappear!

We are still here, heading back home tomorrow I took two classes and the crop last night. I enjoyed both of my classes, but after doing at least one CC convention a year for 10+ years I'm pretty selective in what I take. I took a Heartfelt Creations card class and Stephanie Bernard's card class. Did three nice cards in each class with good instruction. Our group did talk to the CK reps and vendors about the small vendor fair. We were told there is another event in California that many if the vendors went to instead. It seemed like most of the Utah and then the California vendors went or stayed there instead of coming north. The vendor fair was very disappointing especially since I broke my paper trimmer last night and couldn't replace it on site. There were no general vendors where a friend could get a black pen and another friend could get dimensional glue dots. Anyone disappointed please email CK so they hear

I went to the Scrapbook Expo in California today. The vendor area was decent but not great. Probably bid enough to have impact on the Portland show.

The Seattle (Bellevue) CKC in Nov. was disappointing too. I have attended CKC for about 10 years and it seems over the past 4 years it is diminishing. We still get the Heirloom and Expo here and they both seem to be growing. I went to Portland CKC 2 years ago because Heirloom was there the same weekend.

Yeah, I went to the CKC in Bellevue this year, and had been planning to head down to the one in Portland, but was demotivated by just how bad the one in Bellevue was. I was in and out of the vendor fair in an hour. It really is too bad that Embellish It! doesn't come anymore. A lot of the booths were premade stuff or even non-scrapbooking stuff. Booooo.
I'm sorry to hear that the Portland version was not great either. I have gone to the one in Portland a few times and enjoyed it.

My friend and I have gone for the last 15 years I think. I was shocked by how small the vendor fair was. I saw that someone posted a scrapbook expo video on youtube on Sat, so I knew there was an event going on in Southern CA. Hopefully next year we see the return of some of the vendors. I took the selfie mini album class by lickety splits and the technique class with Gossamer blue. I am not a fan of the lickety split designs overall, but the album was cute. There was a lot of getting up and down from your seat in the gossamer blue class, as we had to get up and go to the back of the room every time we misted something. We got a lot of merchandise in that class though. I liked the page we made.

Thanks for the class information. I'm taking both of those classes. I almost took the Product Preview but thought I would rather spend $55 on exactly what I want.

Did anyone who attended the CKC in Portland buy one of the $15 swag bags that Creating Keepsakes was selling? I'm curious if they are worth the $15. And does anyone want to share their class reviews? I love to read those.
