Ours is. Today the kindergarteners & 1st graders can wear pajamas, and all older grades can wear a Dr Seuss related shirt with their uniform bottoms. Tomorrow is crazy socks day. Wednesday they are doing in class activities. Thursday they can wear a crazy hat. Friday they can wear a solid green shirt and their uniform bottoms. The scrapbooker in me loves it because these are photo opportunities. The mom in me is sad because my oldest only put on her Seuss shirt for picture taking (by me) this morning before she left for school, but wouldn't wear the shirt to school (she wore her uniform shirt & packed her Seuss shirt in her backpack, just in case) because she is worried about being bullied for wearing it. I have to admit I understand where she is coming from because many of the parents in her school are uninvolved and don't make it a priority to have their children do stuff like this. Then the kids who don't participate in school spirit activities (many to most) make fun of the kids who are doing the school spirit activities. Makes me sad. Anyway, sorry it turned into a novel. What are your kids doing for Dr. Seuss week?

I just picked up DS for preschool and he had a Cat in the Hat paper hat and his teacher read "The Cat in the Hat" this morning. I guess that will be the extent of it.

We're testing until the end of March so I doubt it.

If the weather ever starts cooperating we will be celebrating this week. Today was hat day, tomorrow crazy socks. Wednesday is stripes, Thursday I don't remember, Friday is dress like Thing one and Thing two. I have the schedule on the chalkboard so I will have to see what we are doing Thursday.

I'm an elementary librarian and I do quite a bit this week.
Today was Green Eggs and Ham day. We dressed in green. I also create "Reading Forts." I have about 15 large sheets and I make little forts between the book shelves and behind furniture. All classes come in today or tomorrow and have 20-30 mins of silent reading in the forts. The rest of the week I have a "Wheel of Reading." They spin a wheel and must check out whatever genre they land on (i.e. a non-fiction animal book, an author they've never read, a fairytale...) All week I have Seuss trivia on the morning news program.
It takes a bit of planning on my part but they love it and look forward to every year.

My boys are way too old for Dr. Seuss celebrations. Maybe I will color his eggs green in the morning.

I went to my granddaughter's school and read to the class. It felt good to be back in a classroom.

I didn't see anything in the March newsletter about it, but it would be timely! My DD (4) is starting to REALLY read (sound out/figure out the words instead of just memorizing) Green Eggs and Ham within the last week! I'm so excited!

My dd's kindergarten class made green eggs and ham this morning. They loved trying green eggs. They made hats that look like the cat in the hat. They also watched the Cat in the Hat.
My kids love Dr. Seuss week. I always make green eggs and ham for dinner during the week. It is one of their favorite meals all year.

My son in 5th had I live to read week last week, and each day was a special dress up day and activities . My kindergarten has I love to read week this week, with special dress up days and activities .
This lead to a parenting fail for me...I sent my kindergarten to school last Wednesday in pj's for pj day...only his pj day is this Thursday! ! Luckily he is in K, so no one made fun of him!
Both of them celebrated Dr Seuss's birthday today.

We are in my classroom, but oddly enough there was only one or two other classes that did anything. School lunch did have cookies with the Cat in the Hat on the packaging, I have never seen that before. We celebrate all week long.

Yes. My son's pre-school is all decked out. In dramatic play area they have giant truffala trees and thing 1 and thing 2 costumes, Cat in the Hat giant hats, "green eggs and ham" in the play kitchen etc. They have lots of Dr. Seuss books all around the class room. Today they made mini truffala trees with tissue paper and paper towel rolls. I hope to get some more photos so I can scrapbook them. They also sent home some mini Cat in the Hat papers that we are to write down what they read and they are decorating one of the boards with them..
Today when I walked in to pick up my son today, this cute little 3 year old was all dressed as Thing 1 with a wig and all just sitting there. So adorable!
