Seriously. And who would ever hire him as their lawyer now? Who would ever take him seriously as a professional? There are lots of people out there who agree with him, and those who do, will choose him over another lawyer. Where I live, there used to be a lawyer who, among other things, said that sexual abuse of minors weren't harmful (it was society's reaction that caused harm) and that incest was parents exercising their right to raise their kids. He was superbusy (for decades) every @sshole in Norway wanted him to defend them in court. Wow. I have no words. My sane mind can't wrap around that kind of perversion.

Just curious if this lawyer stated his proffered religion. This attitude is gaining ground in the more radical areas of the world. Why are people here so surprised when someone in America believes what these others believe? It's vile and it's evil. I'm just not shocked. Another article says he is a Christian Right activist.

You know, I wish I could be surprised by this ignorant idiot but I can't. There are too many people with this attitude and belief in the world and they seem to be getting more obnoxious and more hypocritical as the days go on. It is horrific that anyone would say this but I just can't be surprised anymore.

I know I shouldn't be shocked, but I am. I just am. And sad. Deeply, deeply sad. I actually read someone post on FB that literally made me gasp. They compared a gay person to a smoker, in that the "sin" would rub off on them, like second-hand smoke. Really? Really??? You can't believe how angry that made me.

Bless his heart...he sure feels strongly about this, doesn't he?
(I find this kind of legalistic thinking so perplexing. The contradiction between the thou shalt nots he is choosing to follow confuses me-does he think that one commandment take precedence over another? Or, for that matter, all the other "rules" laid out in the Bible?)

Thank you. It wasn't obvious. There are too many options to guess.

I saw ISIS bind and gag a gay man, proceed to throw him from the top of a building where others proceeded to stone him to death. This lawyer is no different than those monsters in my eyes.

The contradiction between the thou shalt nots he is choosing to follow confuses me-does he think that one commandment take precedence over another? Or, for that matter, all the other "rules" laid out in the Bible?) It's understanding faith as requiring blind adherence to a set of rules or regulations in order to avoid cataclysmic punishment. Fear is the dominating emotion, not love. Jesus came to break that belief and spoke of God as a loving parent, telling us that our most important job is to love one another. But love is a strong emotion that is too often confused with the other strong emotions of fear and hate. Any examination or questioning belief as mandated by those in power is in itself an act of heresy worthy of condemnation. This is the war we are truly engaged in right now, and it is only building momentum. It's going to get much, much worse before it gets better. We will be hearing these sentiments repeated again and again by those who choose the other side.

Totally disgusting. Though, in a certain way, I'd rather people show their bigotry and hatred rather than keeping it under wraps. It's harder to fight things you cannot see.
