We are traveling out of the country over Easter. We are going to be packing very light so I don't know that I can bring Easter basket stuff with me. We arrive on Saturday at 2pm and Easter is the next morning so I don't think I will have time or even time away from the kids to go out and buy stuff there.
My kids are 9 & 11 .... Would you attempt something really small on Easter or should we have the Easter Bunny visit our house while we are gone? The kids can get their baskets once they get home from our trip?

Leave the baskets set up at home. Bring something small and a note saying a suprise awaits them when they return.

I would order on amazon and have it shipped to my destination. unless you do major gifting, you should be able to bring it home. (i would do plastic buckets or something super cheap that you could leave behind.)

A chocolate bunny on Easter morning with a note from EB stating that he left baskets at home for when they return.
BUT...and I say this as a mom who doesn't do a whole lot when it comes to Easter baskets. Around here, you get a chocolate bunny and I fill eggs with other candies, but I do not do gifts of any sort...

When we got everyone in the van ready to leave, I went back in the house and put the baskets out with a cute sign from the Easter bunny. The kids were so excited when we got back home.

I'd do a note Easter morning and have the baskets set up at home for when you get back.
Coming home from vacation can be a bummer, this way the kids will have something to brighten their day.

You can throw the basket and empty plastic eggs in your suitcase, unfilled, still in the plastic from the store.

I'd pack a chocolate bunny with a note from the bunny saying he was glad he found them having fun in London. I wouldn't mention baskets at home.
If I had time before trip to stash baskets, the kids would be surprised when they returned. But if I didnt, my kids would have had a great trip and be" beyond the bunny" after trip excitement.
Have fun!

I'd just get the kids an Easter card and put some spending money inside and write something like "since you are in London for Easter, I thought you might want some spending money for your trip instead of an Easter basket this year." Then I'd sign the card from the Easter Bunny.

If you are able to check an extra bag without a lot of expense, you could pack a suitcase with the basket/stuff. I did this at Disney World at Christmas - kids just don't care about suitcases, and I had an extra suitcase to bring home with souvenirs (because you always leave with more than you brought). I am pretty sure I gained a couple of extra years of "belief" following this stunt.

Are you going to be in a hotel? We were in Mexico once over Easter and the hotel left chocolate eggs and a note in our room for us.

You could pick out a selection of Cadbury chocolate bars, easy to pick up in any UK supermarket, corner shop or travel station. Or you could see if there is a Thorntons Chocolate shop near where you will be based www.thorntons.co.uk/section/Easter/2459.uts

Either he comes late, or comes early. One year when we were kids Santa came "early" as we were travelling at Christmas. Mom had set it up by saying she had stopped at the Mall to remind Santa that we were going to be gone so if he was planning on bringing us big items he should bring them early. Sure enough, he did. As a little kid, it was GREAT and I still remember that.

We are going to London. We are getting really excited! The Easter Tradition in London.. well in my English family was a giant easter Egg usually filled with chocolate. I would get then each an egg when they get there! My daughter far prefers that over a basket. You can get these at any grocery store or even a corner market. I would ask the concierge at the hotel to help you with an Easter surprise and have an English Easter!!! Enjoy.. you will find a lot of the tourist spots will have things going on for Easter as the schools are generally on holidays!

I will email them and see if they have anything planned for Easter Sunday! I think I might be able to sneak away to a market for some Cadbury chocolate eggs too! I was at Nordstrom today and our store has a "pop up shop" with merchandise that changes every few weeks. Well....their timing was perfect because the theme right now is London! I ended up picking up 2 red double decker bus key chains and 2 bobble head Corgis - not very Easter-ish at all but my kids will love them! Now I just need to get a bit of chocolate and we will be all set! We will have to find a market that first afternoon anyway to pick up some other things so it sounds pretty doable to sneak in some Easter candy too! Thanks for for all the suggestions! I appreciate it!

Buy a Chocolate bunny while in London and leave it at the front desk and write a note "from the Easter bunny". The note will say that the Easter bunny left something for them at the front desk and walk with the kids to the lobby. The clerk can hand them the chocolate bunny.
I don't do big Easter baskets with presents in it. Chocolate bunny, a dozen hard boiled eggs (in fridge), a couple of plastic eggs with some kisses, a $1 matchbox car when he was younger and a plastic egg with a dollar bill or $5 bill. He's 17 now and I still do the same, but instead of the matchbox car, he gets a $5 Tim Hortons or Chipotle or Subway GC.
I was amazed when my son was younger and saw that people were buying presents etc. for the basket. This isn't a birthday or Christmas.
But that's how I roll.

MerryMom, love the front desk idea! Makes me wish we had an Easter trip planned, even my "big" kods would like it.

My mom always put a small gift in our baskets which is why I do it - tradition, you know? But I usually get them something nicer as they got older, like a video game or movies instead of books and trinkets.

We are almost always traveling at Easter. What I did depended on where we were and if we were driving or flying. We were in Paris last year over Easter. The hotel had chocolate eggs for the kids at breakfast and I had brought a few things for them. The room in my suitcase was fine--we filled it up with souveniers coming home.
In your situation, I would bring some things with me and go easy on yourself. If you can find a big egg or a bunny, bonus. The kids won't mind that they see you buying them. That first day there can be overwhelming, and if you are staying in a business area like we did, there wasn't much for shops and not a lot of it was open on Sunday. We did find a great patisserie and managed to get many wonderful yummy treats!
