I've posted a few times about how I wish Amazon Prime would separate shipping from streaming. Because they cannot get a package to me within 2 days, even if I pay for expedited shipping.
I need specialized pet food. Closest store that carries it is 90 minutes away. So I order it from Amazon. We had plenty of food, until my lovely dog got into it over the weekend and ate almost all of it.
So Saturday I ordered it, one day shipping. Due to be delivered today. Awesome, since I ran out last night. Got the notice that it had been delivered. To the post office. I can expect it to be actually delivered on Thursday. We are expecting a winter storm tonight. So going to get it is not an option.
Got a call into the vet because at this point I don't know wtf to do.
I have contacted Amazon multiple times about their '2day' delivery and am repeatedly told the delivery is to post office within 2days (or in this case 1 day). Not me. I live in a small town, but it's not a rural community. I don't understand why this is such an issue.
Ahhhhh. Poor kitty keeps mournfully looking at her empty food bowl. I expect revenge soon.

That is bull. You need to call back and speak to a supervisor. The two day guarantee is to you not the post office. Period.

I don't know what kind of food you are using, but have you looked into Chewy.com? I get our cats' food there, on repeat delivery, and it's actually the same price or cheaper than Amazon. Their delivery has been consistently good, although in all fairness, I live in a suburban area and haven't had problems with Amazon delivery.

I feel your pain. I ordered something on a Mon. night that I really, really needed on Fri. Of course, it didn't show up until Mon. Ummm...7 days is a little longer than the guaranteed 2 days. On Sat. I ordered something that wasn't very urgent. and it showed up today -- in the middle of a blizzard. Go figure.
We also live in a small town and have to go to the post office to get our mail, but we do live in a house. I learned from a friend that we should take the PO Box off our shipping info. That helped with shipments arriving on time (other than the above time and another -- another "I really, really need it" moment). Maybe that would help your situation???

My advice would be not to wait until you only have three or four days worth of food left to reorder. I'm not trying to sound bitchy because I've done the same thing several times. I started keeping an extra bag on hand or I would set a reminder when the bag was half finished so I would remember to order more before the last minute.

My cats are free feeders and their bowl lasts a long time. If it gets empty before I notice, one of my cats throws up. I hope that doesn't happen to your hungry kitty.

We don't have a PO Box, just a normal address. I had about 2 weeks of food left until the dog helped himself to it. But that's another story.
Thanks for the chewy website! Off to check that out.

Hope that your vet calls you soon. Just make sure to offer plenty of water to keep hydrated. Poor kitty baby.

The vet has some canned food that should get us by for the next couple of days. Hopefully she won't turn her nose up at it. And hopefully the dog hasn't figured out how to use a can opener. Lol!
The kitty has severe allergies that turns her into a terrible mess if she eats something she's not supposed to have. She can't have any type of fish, grains or chicken. The no-chicken thing is surprisingly the most difficult. Alternate protein diets, like rabbit or venison, often have chicken added. She's currently on a duck and peas diet.

I went and looked at all my orders and every single order was received by the agreed on day (2 day shipping) since November. It must be your location or someone being really lazy. When I order 1 day, it comes via fed ex.

That's bizarre. It should be 2 days to YOUR doorstep, not the PO. Absolutely file a complaint! I just did tonight because half of my Prime Pantry box was wet from opened Swiffer Wet pads inside, and they refunded me for all of the mushy items 1-2-3, no questions asked. In my experience, they've always been very good with the c/s.

That is really strange. Do FedEx and UPS normally deliver to your house? All of my Amazon deliveries come from one or the other, and they always arrive exactly when promised (knock on wood).

I'm headed to Seattle at the end of the month. I thought about going to headquarters and asking what's up. Lol!
The handoff to the post office has been happening for well over a year now. From the Amazon forums, it appears not to be uncommon. It's such a first world problem that I plan accordingly, and usually take the delayed shipping to get digital credits. However, when I pay extra, I expect it in the time frame given.
If we didn't use other aspects of Prime so frequently, I would have dumped it by now.
eta: UPS and fed ex deliver regularly. My neighbor is a qvc addict. Like I said, i don't know what the problem is.

I placed an order on Friday. The order shipped in 3 packages, so 3 notices, 3 tracking numbers. Two made it today, the other one, UPS doesn't seem to even have the package. I was charged as according to Amazon, it was shipped. So who knows where the stupid thing is.

I have been really frustrated with Amazon doing this to us lately as well. I don't even care that I don't need the item in 2 days, it is the fact I PAY to get it in 2 days regardless - to my house.
Each time it occurs, and is not weather related (as I get why it takes longer with blizzards) - I do call. We keep getting people we can hardly understand, but they have been extending our membership by a month at no cost each time. That said, we don't want a free month of Prime - we want our stuff, when we are supposed to get it - to our house.
If you have an American Express card, I believe all of them have ShopRunner for free. This is a free 2 day shipping service on certain stores. You can type your item into the shop runner site and it will pull up if any of their retailers have the item included with the program. The only issue I had with them was I needed to do a shop runner return (which was free) and it took I believe 6 weeks to show up as a return on my credit card - and in the meantime I had to pay for it given I don't carry a credit card balance.

I second the recommendation for chewy.com. Free shipping for orders over $49. I got my package in two days from the east coast to Minnesota. And it was packaged way better than similar shipments from Amazon. I was getting dented cans from Amazon. Nothing like that from Chewy.
