I almost missed this, but have set the DVR. Here's a refresher of Who's Who.

Thanks! I'm definitely going to watch this time.
So, I missed Broadchurch season 1, but watched Gracepoint. I know Broadchurch was much better, but I can't decide whether it's worth it to go back and watch season 1 since apparently Gracepoint stuck to the story pretty much exactly.
Thoughts?

Thanks, I had forgotten! I thought last season it was on Sunday, or something, but I could be wrong.

They did end slightly differently. Probably not enough that you wouldn't be able to figure it out in episode one, though. A couple of the character's story lines were different as well. I don't know why, but I liked the characters in Broadchurch SOO much more. I didn't like the dad and the pastor in Gracepoint (the characters themselves, not the actors), but I really liked them in BC.

If you haven't watched the first series of Broadchurch you might have difficulty following parts of the second series. The ending in Gracepoint is very different to the ending of the first series of Broadchurch. The continuation of what happened at the end of series one carries through into this second series. So therefore, parts of the second series just wouldn't make much sense to you.

I really enjoyed the second series. I'd try and catch up with series one if you get the chance, as Olivia Coleman is just a joy to watch. I love her in everything she does.

I loved the original Broadchurch and would recommend watching it as Gracepoint had a couple of deviations from the original story and the ending had a twist that might make the transition to Season 2 not flow as easily for you.

Thank you!! Just set it to record. I didn't watch the American version of Broadchurch--can someone spoil for me how it was different than the UK version? TIA!

I loved Olivia Cole as Ellie, but never felt Anna Gunn fit the role (and I usually like her) and agree with you on the dad and pastor. I also never got the true small town vibe from Gracepoint that was such a big part of the story.

Ending of Gracepoint Tom accidently kills Danny, hitting him with an oar, after following him and Joe to their meeting. Joe confesses to cover up for Tom and Ellie knows what really happened.

Weird - the show info on DirecTV says it's new tonight, but the episode is dated 1-5-15. Looks like I have it set to record either way.

Thanks for sharing! I have seen Broadchurch season 1&2. Tried watching Gracepoint but failed to follow through and kept wondering what they did differently in the American version.

Thanks for the heads up! I really enjoyed Season 1 and will watch Season 2 even though I inadvertently had a spoiler thrown my way when I was browsing the Daily Mail online for a celebrity gossip fix. Serves me right!

I had watched the first series on Netflix and didn't look for it anywhere else. Of course I don't get BBC America...
