Yet another snow day, and by all accounts there won't be school again tomorrow (she says as the snow is pouring down and single digits due tonight).
I think that we are all tired of so much "togetherness" this winter.

I won't comment on our "winter," lest I get virtually throttled.
I hope spring comes soon for the parts of the country getting hammered!

Preach it, sister. OMG. It needs to STOP SNOWING. What she said! And elaine - I think you live fairly near to me - and there is no way there is school tomorrow.

No snow day for us today (also on the East Coast) but I agree with you. I feel like I'm trapped in a snow globe!

No kids here but the dogs are making me nuts. First they don't want to go out then when they do they roll around and come back in soaking wet and snow covered. I've wiped up the laundry room floor 3 times already.

YES!! Not only do I have my two girls who want to bicker over every little thing, our neighbor is here as well. This poor child is at my house every day until I send him home at night, every single Saturday and the majority of Sundays as well. I've started telling the girls he can't come over until 11:00. Together they're all loud. He makes nonsense noises ALL THE TIME. I send him home at 6PM. His dad is never home. I get that he's better off at my house than home alone, but Dad really needs to take more of an effort to be home even if he is "happier at my house." I'm pretty sure our small house has gotten smaller since October.

It makes me wonder how people survived all winter being indoors as a family in tiny homes with one large room or just a few small rooms. I would probably be one of them that would lose it!

Luckily my DH was home off from work as well, so we had a fun day. My 13yo went around the neighborhood and came back with 2 friends. Now they are all here playing Risk after drinking hot cocoa and making cookies. I am just happy they aren't playing video games! Ugh.

I know! Me too. I stay home with DS so the school thing isn't an issue for us. BUT we are tired of being cooped up. We got snow and ice again last night and can't get out of our hilly neighborhood unless it's an emergency. DH is working from home so it's so annoying to keep away from him so he can work. We feel like we're in his way and he feels like he's in ours. He had a conference call this AM while DS was throwing a tantrum about putting on his clothes. OMG. Thankful it's nap time now

They let schools out 2 hours early today because it was SUPPOSED to start sleeting/snowing. It hasn't started yet. I love my children, I love my children....... insert bug eyed smiley here! Cynthia

Here in Mississippi we got "winter lasagna": layers of sleet, ice, and snow on top. No school today and they have already cancelled tomorrow, so Spring Break has officially started. Unfortunately, DD's spring break starts tomorrow afternoon as well, and it looks like the roads may not be passable to go and pick her up.
It's a great day for a movie marathon. And soup.
Personally, I am happy for the confinement--I am getting a ton of sewing done--DH said I have to finish some of my WIPs before I start anything new.

I woke up to 19" of snow here in Kentucky. After about 15" two weeks ago, I am so over it. My kids are big so they haven't been testing my patience, but my dogs are not used to being cooped up like this. They are 50 lbs and 80 lbs and are acting like toddlers jacked up on Red Bull and powdered donuts. So, I totally feel your pain.

Thank you everyone!
Back at the old 2Peas, there would have to be at least 2-3 responses about how I should treasure this time together, they are only kids for so few years, etc. Some implying that I am a rotten parent. And I would then feel a tinge of guilt, mixed with frustration because I am sure their responses would be different after so much together time in my house.
But I feel supported by realists. Thank you!
Given how much snow we got today and how cold it is, I'll bet a Starbucks Venti hot beverage that Fairfax Co Schools are closed again tomorrow. They built in extra snow days into our schedule this year and we have been tearing through them all at a fast pace.
The only thing preventing me from going totally around the bend is the knowledge that we are heading down to Vero Beach, FL on March 29 for Spring Break. I love Florida in March!

There needs to be somewhere with a happy medium. I'd love a bit of snow, but after that, I'd be done. Here in Southern CA, it's probably going to be in the 80's this weekend which is too much for March. I'm going shopping for some spring things to wear to some events coming up. 14 yo DS has to be in a black suit for a band festival Saturday and he will roast. Luckily it's in indoors, but even there, the lights are hot!
OP-I don't know how all you winter Refupeas do it. I'd go stark raving mad in a few days!

I'm having a love/hate relationship with the snow days. Honestly, the kids have been fine, but I need to get my butt to the gym. I'm so tense, I need to get some movement and the roads are nowhere passable. We won't get plowed out for a while either. I really need to know if there's school tomorrow or not. Between the PARCC testing and snow days, my lesson planning has gone to hell. Who knows what the heck I'm teaching this month the rate we're going! Ugh!

I pinned this the other day! We have had two snow days this year (Colorado) and parents have been complaining. The other districts in town have had more than five days and tons of late starts. We have a bunch of kids that are bused and sometimes it just isn't safe.

I love one or two good snow days. Anymore than that and they start adding on days at the end and I hate that with a passion They actually built in 18 snow days into our calendar this year and we are almost out of them. 18. They put that many in because we had to extend an extra week in June last year, thinking that would certainly take care of all the days we could possibly have. Ha! Any more snowstorms and we still will extend in June. School has been officially cancelled for tomorrow. At least they let us know ahead of time so I don't have to get up at 5 am to check my email re: school notices. I'm very glad I stocked up at Wegmans yesterday for lunch and dinner foods.

Holy crap, girl, where do you live? We have never had more than three snow days in one year. I have been in the district for 28 years. We went nine years straight without a single snow day and my state gets snow!

We went nine years straight without a single snow day and my state gets snow! I know! My husband and I met when we were both teaching at USAFA. I think that maybe 1-2 days out of the four years we were there were classes at the Academy cancelled even though most of the faculty had to drive in. We are in the Virginia part of Metro DC now and many communities don't have continuous sidewalks, so there is an issue with walking to school and waiting for busses, and people here cannot drive in any form of precipitation. So, school is called for snow, ice, and even extreme cold. Yes, cancelled or at least 2 hour delay if it is below 10 (usually, they finally gave up on this halfway through this winter or we would be out of snow days). It is nuts. I miss Colorado.

Songbird, I am one of those people who grew up in a very small house and lived in the country with few neighbors. I am in my 50's. During the winter, I would either go off and read or as a family we played Scrabble and Yahtzee a lot. And in our unfinished basement we had a ping pong table and would have tournaments. My brother used to make baseball card houses that were really impressive. I miss those days. I am so tired of my teenagers being on their phone or computer all the time. My daughter loves games so I can usually convince her to spend time with me, but my son has no interest. Luckily though he saved me yesterday by using our snowblower 3 times to clean the drive and sidewalk so my husband could get home late last night. I think he actually did a better job.
