This episode of "The West Wing," I end up sobbing at this scene: And I've watched it many, many times.

For that reason I refuse to watch the one where Mrs Landingham dies and the one where the homeless man dies wearing Toby's coat. But I love love love this show and re-watch the entire series (minus the above mentioned episodes) once a year.

I feel your pain. It saddens me that I can't get my family to appreciate that show. I may not have enjoyed every episode but there are some I just love and consider some of the best scenes to ever air on tv.

I am pretty sure that this show is the primary reason my oldest is pursuing a political science degree.

The episode where they acknowledge Leo/John Spencer's death is almost unbearable. I pretty much can't watch the very last episode anymore. And the one with Zoe's kidnapping with the scene where Leo tells POTUS, who then drops his drink and his eyes meet Abby's. Finally, when Toby tells CJ he's the leak. A full minute + of no dialogue and one of the best scenes of the whole series.

I have watched the entire season at least 6 or 7 times. I like to watch a few minutes before I go to bed to unwind. When I saw which one I was on last night, I knew I should skip it, but couldn't bear to. So I ended up staying up until 12:30, because I couldn't end on the scene of Leo running through the halls then telling the president that Zoey had been taken. The slow motion of the photos falling and the the glass and ice falling on top of them gets me every time. (And I always think- someone please clean that up, because if she dies, they are going to want those pictures!!)

I haven't watched West wing since it was on tv. I really liked it I might have to watch it again. You really, really should. I always worry that one day I'll find that Netflix has removed the series. I have all of the DVDs but so much easier to just pull up on Netflix. I should start buy digital copies just to be in the safe side.

Even though it's been MANY years since I've seen the show, the one that made me cry soooo much is about a homeless veteran, and at the end, it's snowing, and they play "Little Drummer Boy", and they give him a proper burial.....OMG!!!!!! I can still remember rewinding the VCR tape a few times---just at the ending part--- because it was so touching and the music just nailed it.....I guess I was in the mood for a good cry, too!
I don't remember the one about Zoe, and **GASP** I also don't remember this scene from wingnut's OP---shame on me! LOL!
I look forward to watching the entire series again---! It's been in our Netflix queue for a while....

Love this series! I always have to fast forward past the part where Simon Donovan is killed and CJ's reaction with the "Hallelujah" song playing. Makes me cry every time.
We are having another snow/ice day here, so it's a perfect day to marathon the WW.

Love so many of them! Mrs. Landingham's death, Zoey's kidnappying, CJ doing the Jackal, SS storming the bar and grabbing the guys harassing Charlie & Zoey, Sam firing those guys for harassing Ainsley, Simon's death, Leo's death, I could go on for days. I feel your pain. It saddens me that I can't get my family to appreciate that show. I may not have enjoyed every episode but there are some I just love and consider some of the best scenes to ever air on tv. Me too. I can't get anyone in my house to watch w/me. I am pretty sure that this show is the primary reason my oldest is pursuing a political science degree. I keep telling my younger son that I fully expect to him to one day say the words, "I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States." The most I can get out of him is that he wants to be a history teacher. He's only 15, so I'm hoping I can turn him around. For my 50th birthday, I had my husband give me the boxed set. I vowed to spend one weekend a month (when feasible) binge watching. The first few months, I was really good - I even wrote it on the calendar so my family would know to pretend I wasn't home, lol. Sadly, I have fallen off the wagon. We have no plans this weekend, so it might be a good time to revisit The West Wing . . .

I googled the epi I described above---it was in Season One, and it's called "In Excelsis Deo"..... it's been so many years since I saw it, so I'm looking forward to watching soon---and I will have many tissues ready!
