I think that the main difference is that the character of James Bond is totally fictional or at least some of his actions are. Wearing a tux would be enough for anyone to recognise Bond,he wouldn't have needed to have props. There are sadly real life characters that are Christian Grey's! It's the difference between " fiction" and reality IMO. Maybe that's the case in GB but in the US, if some kid walked in wearing only a tux, he'd just look like a wedding party escapee and nobody would have a clue who he is. I'm not buying your argument. I disagree. I just asked my DS, "if it was Dress as a Literary Character at school day and a boy showed up in a black tux, who would you think he was?" Without missing a beat, he said, "James Bond". FTR My youngest did go to a Halloween party as Dexter in college. But in elementary school, they went as Merlin, Tom Sawyer, Harry Potter, or some character that was actually appropriate to children's literature. This mom was looking for attention.
