I'm not suppose to anymore due to my immune system. I used to not care but now I have to be careful and they specifically said no to those types of things.

Dh and I went away for a couple of days last October. I had no problem using the jacuzzi. No issues months later, and i'd do it again without a second thought.

No to room. Yes to general.
Why? I don't know.
I guess because there would be more incentive for the hotel to keep the hot tub clean where it could be seen by all. Not so much with individual rooms.
But honestly? I don't like hot tubs anyway. Or baths. I'm strictly a shower girl.

When I was young and didn't think of such things, DH and I used private in-room hot tubs quite a bit. Now that I've been a pea, I'd worry about how and how often they are cleaned!

Meh! I live on the edge and would go in both We frequent a certain hotel in the USA almost every summer ... it has a 24 hour pool so we love that ... I take my chances and sit in the hot tub while dh and dd's swim

Well my sister and her DH are always going to hotels with them and after hearing the stories she tells me I'd say no unless I have disinfected myself LOL and I'm not someone freaked out by germs like that.

In room? No. In the pool area or public spa? Yep.
I just wouldn't trust that the in room tub was cleaned properly, the housekeepers have to turn so many rooms and quickly that I would think they would not do a thorough job in each room.
My daughter got her one and only yeast diaper rash a couple of days after I bathed her in a normal tub in a hotel room. This was a five-star hotel too. It is possible it was just a coincidence but I now bring my own Clorox wipes when I travel and do a quick swipe of the tub along with the counter and remote.

Considering that I know how hard it is to keep our own jetted tub clean, NO, I would NEVER use a jetted tub in a hotel bathroom or pool area.

Yeah. Just like I frivolously eat at restaurants where people might mess with my food, and I don't wash new clothes before I wear them, and I sleep under the hotel room comforter, and I eat prepackaged foods.
I know that there are horror stories, but I just prefer not to live my life in a bubble.

No, I would not use a jetted tub or a regular tub in a hotel. Only the shower.....

I probably would use it if the room appeared to be otherwise clean.

I have been told that "a quick swipe" of wipes does not work to really clean and the surface must be saturated with the cleaner. ugh!! I am trained on sanitizing...bleach solution, spray, let sit at least two minutes, wipe clean. I know how hard it was to keep my own hot tub clean. I found out the hard way with a nasty itchy rash during the first few months of ownership. So, no!

Not anymore. DH and I used both in Vegas and I spent weeks fighting a horrible infection in my eye as a result of it. My surgeon thinks it was probably the hot tub. All I know is that I went through several very expensive compounded prescription eye drops, a ton of pain and many long trips to see the specialist. Not worth it for me to ever tempt fate again.

We always have a Spa tub in our room when we stay in DVC suites at Disney World. I bring dishwasher tabs with me for the dishwasher while we are there. I run a bathtub with all hot water and a dishwasher tab, bubbles going, for about 20 minutes after we check in. Then we use it for the week.
There is no way you could prevent my boys from using the bubbles - it is part of what they look forward to.

As someone who won't take a bath let alone get in the hot tub, I'm interested why some of you wouldn't trust the one in your room but trust the one in the pool area?

Good gravy. So basically the Ps have to bring their own cleaning supplies, sheets, and toilet liners to stay in a hotel. Not something that even enters my mind to do. Germs are everywhere. You can be unlucky anywhere.

As someone who won't take a bath let alone get in the hot tub, I'm interested why some of you wouldn't trust the one in your room but trust the one in the pool area? The amount of chlorine they pour in pool area hot tubs and pools is enough to kill just about anything and dye your hair green (says a person whose blonde hair had a green tint all summer growing up).

I don't use tubs at all. The idea of taking a bath anywhere gives me the heebie-jeebies. I can't fathom why sitting in your own filth is a good thing. Ick. Plus, I find sitting in a bath or hot tub to be really, really boring.

Plus, I find sitting in a bath or hot tub to be really, really boring. I love baths - the are incredibly relaxing to me. I can't tell you how many papers I wrote in college while in a bath. Those were the days before computers and you wrote your papers by hand. And then, after all the editing, by hand, you typed it all on a typewriter. Nowadays, I have a large soaking tub in our master bath and love to bring my kindle and soak and read. Unless you find reading boring, taking a bath certainly doesn't have to be.
