Just watched the video on mycraftchannel.com...looks like it only works with her products. Would be fun but seems very limited if you have to use only her products.

Or you could just do what Jennifer McGuire does. A cheap $20 laminator, making copies with a laser printer and some foil ordered online. I got mine at Michaels. They have the same stuff she is using in her videos on clearance. I haven't done it yet but I have seen examples and they look great. JM foiling technique

I haven't seen the Heidi Swapp machine, but I have watched a couple of vides that Jennifer McGuire did with the laminator. I also saw a similar video that where Deco Foil demonstrated exactly the same technique. This technique looks so awesome that I immediately picked up a laminator and I took got the foil on clearance at M's - just beware that the foil Ms is selling only has one sheet in the tube where as most online carriers I've seen hold 5 sheets for close to the same price! I was meaning to try the technique last weekend, but I got caught up in doing a few other things and didn't get around to it. I do plan on giving it a try this weekend!

The rolls were ten feet long according to the video yesterday. I don't have a laser printer so the technique you described wouldn't work for me.

I am using mine at the office BUT you can find them for home use fairly cheaply. The couple examples that I have tried this morning have worked great.

I'll have to see about getting one of those laminators, didn't know that could be an option!
If you have a laser printer, it should work as long as you can feed a printed page through a second time (e.g. once to print, add foil over print, then run it through the printer again, so the heat from the fuser can seal the foil onto the toner). I used to do this back in the 90s with an old HP LaserJet II. such fun!
Think I will put a laser printer on my mother's day wish list, lol. don't know if I can squeeze any surface space for it, but I can try!

I watched the video about the minc on youtube. It was Heidi demoing the machine and products at CHA. I am in love with the technique and I plan on getting the machine and several foils. I cannot wait to make my own foiled cards and home decor prints. I also need to get a laser printer. I have been wanting one forever anyways so just another reason for me to get one!

Is the Minc more than just a heat laminating machine? I was playing around with my own foiling using a laminator and her video looks like it works the same way. She's selling the printouts but also said that anything printed from a laser printer would work also.

I have the laminating machine....now all I need is a laser printer. DH went to Office Depot and looked, unfortunately the only one that had toner in it was the $400 color one. Needless to say he didn't bring home one, it is my own fault since I told him to "try them out" and not "bring one home"!

There are less expensive models and it doesn't need to be color. I priced out an HP model on Amazon for $90.

I now see her foil online... Can you use it with a regular laminator?

I couldn't find any of the minc stuff in the Michael's or Joann's by me. I checked my michaels yesterday and they didn't have it either.... But I'm in Canada so we never get things fast... I did notice that it's listed as "coming soon" at SSS - interested to see if it will work with a regular laminating machine. I don't see why it won't but you never know! Thanks for checking.

I have a laser printer and no ink jet so I am okay but I believe Kim Jeffries posted on her blog that she just went to officeworks which is a stationary supply store / printing service and got stuff printed from them, I would assume that any printing place would use laser printer.

I picked some of Heidi Swapps's Minc foil and a pack of die cuts and it worked fine In my $20 laminator.

Laura Murray Designs has much cheaper foil and beautiful too. They shipped fast and shipping was reasonable. I bought the foil by the yard and use a laminator. I printed it at a print shop and DH did some at work. Laura Murray Designs foil

Jennifer McGuire recently did a video with 5 ways to foil -- and only one use the toner and laminator method. If you want to foil, you absolutely can foil other ways! Jennifer McGuire ways to add foil

*Bumping this old post*
Joann's today had the small packages of embellishments for $1.97. I am going to go back to see how much the foil is and also the carrier sheets because I have my own laminator at home. I wasn't sure what her laminator did but it seems from this post that it really is just a hot laminator. right?
I can't wait to try this out!
