Hahaha it hasn't been on the news because it isn't newsworthy. WOW what crawled up your butt lately?? No kidding, Olan! It's interesting to me. I'm in Florida, so know nothing of the story. But I've seen a local high school get their championship stripped because of violations similar to this, and on the local level it IS big. And because I do follow college football, and occasionally peruse the top prospects, I admit this caught my eye. So what seems like a stupid, boring post to you is actually quite the opposite to many others.

Wow. Correct me if I'm wrong but, I thought our message board was here for everybody. A place to ask questions, get advice, share our personal, local, national or world news - important or trivial. A place to be silly or serious, when we're excited or bored. And, I thought if somebody opened a thread and found it was not of interest to them, they would just close it and go away. They could start their own S/O thread. But to fuss at the OP for what was on their mind? Not every thing, and not all words, are interesting to, or appreciated by, every body, but isn't this board here for all of us?

OP, I hope you didn't think I thought it wasn't newsworthy. I was just saying HERE in MN, it hasn't been on the news at all. I think this is VERY controversial, and very newsworthy, and relavant to what's going on in sports right now. In fact I have a friend that is a reporter for WCCO. I'm thinking of fwd'ing this thread to him!

Happens all the time across the country. Sometimes parents just move to a school district just so their child can play at a specific high school. Nothing illegal with it so long as the student truly does live in the correct district.

There used to be a law where if you transfer from another school, you can't play sports for a semester. Do they have that rule in Texas? What would be the point of "recruiting" a kid to be a QB for a top ranked school if he can't play for half his senior year?

I'm thinking of fwd'ing this thread to him! I didn't think that at all. It is very newsworthy to me and many people in the state of Texas and other states as well. The UIL rule is that the transfer cannot be for athletic purposes, but it is hard to prove that somebody is transferring for athletic purposes. This athlete is NOT being held out for one semester and many think that he should be. There is a large population in the state of Texas that thinks that this transfer smells very fishy and then there are Allenites who says that there is absolutely no way that this is recruiting. Allen is already in a negative light because of a previous transfer three years ago that brought us Kyler Murray. Aggies are going to LOVE this kid. If Allen wins a 4th straight title in a row with a QB that transferred in from out of the district...there will be a never ending stream of bullcrap. My faith in the purity of high school has been rocked. And I love high school football.

They have it here now, and it was an exact result from the school that I mentioned above. Kids moving into the assigned school area, just when the season started, falsifying addresses, admins/coaches turning a blind eye. It was a big deal. ETA and if you think stuff like this doesn't make the news, well here you go: TBO

He was quoted as wanting to remain with his school till Jan 2016 when he would graduate and go to Oregon. At the time of the interview, where his father might be transferred to was unknown so it seems a real stretch to accuse anyone of any form of recruiting.

This is exactly the information that I wanted to hear! I knew that this board would pull through for me in my quest for knowledge about this kid and his transfer. Thank you so much!

Me me me! I'm from Woodbury. Although I have to say the subject matter is disappointing. I was hoping it was going to be a treasure hunt or lost relative connection.
I remember reading a story last fall about this kid wanting to remain at his current high school for his senior year and that his Dad's job was up in the air. I think it was an article in the Pioneer Press.

Cindy, I believe it was a quote from an interview within his MN home area. You can Google and find it. It sounds like Jill on the Hill read the same thing, but probably directly from the source, whereas I saw it on line.
