I bought a new pair of sandals to match a couple of pairs of pants I have. They are very cute and fit well. I also know the first couple of times I wear them I will get blisters from them until my feet get used to them. Is there a painless way to break in a new pair of shoes such as these? They aren't quite gladiator as that is too big a shoe for someone my height but they are cute and the colour is perfect . The heel height is perfect too. I think it is 1-1.5" which is just great for my feet. I have numerous scars on my toes from shoes being worn until my feet are broken in. Thank you for any and all advice shared.

Shoes should not have to be broken in. If your sandals are causing blisters, they are most likely not fitting your foot properly.

The solution is to buy shoes that fit and are comfortable initially.
ETA My answer wasn't to be snarky, it's just that I gave up buying ill-fitting shoes once I was out of my 20s and I just don't understand why you would buy shoes that may or may not be comfortable once you've gone through the agony of wearing them a few times.

Stick some moleskin on the areas that are rubbing against your foot.

I have a pair of sandals that fit fine but the leather rubbed my toes. So I used very thin socks and wore them around the house for a week. Then I wore without the socks for short periods of time, increasing the time. I can now wear them shopping. I also applied Vaseline under the strap a couple of times.

Sounds like you are buying the wrong type/brand of shoes. There shouldn't have to be a breaking in period.

I feel your pain, literally. You could try putting some mole skin on your shoes where the straps will rub your toes.

Wear them daily around your house. Wear them from the time you get up until you go to wherever, then put them on again later.
If you're wearing them for work wear them but take another pair. Once they hurt switch shoes.

If I try on a pair of shoes and my feet don't love them immediately I don't buy them. Last year I bought a cute pair of sandals on-line. It was a brand I have worn before and knew my size, but they were stiff and rubbed. I sent them back the next day.
