I have only had my Portrait for a little while so I'm still trying to figure things out. I DO have Design Studio, so I should be able to open SVG files. I'm trying to cut the file from this blog page: www.okieladybug.com/2013/07/for-love-of-minions.htmlI downloaded the SVG and imported it into Design Studio. When I open the file it opens the picture of the Minions. I guess I thought it would break it out into the different parts so I can cut everything out of different colors. I've bought a few designs from Silhouette itself and it breaks that parts out. Is there an easy way to separate everything out, or is this an intricate thing that I need to have more experience with? Thanks!

Go to the Cut Settings menu (second from right, icon looks like the blade) Click on the file to select it (so a bounding box shows around it). Each one of the minions is separate, so you can just click above and drag around them to select them all.
Now select "CUT" from the menu on the right. The cut lines will now show up in dark red (if they are not showing - make sure you have the little red triangle selected up at the top right of this menu.
Now you can right click on each Minion and choose UNGROUP and then you can move each piece off so you can cut them in different colors.
Not the best designed cut file - but that should get you going!

Rats. I can do everything except move the pieces, even after following those steps everything still moves together.
I'll concentrate on simpler things for a while! :-)

Make sure you have the Minion ungrouped. Click on it and it should have a bounding box around it. Then right click and select ungroup. Then click OFF the Minion (click somewhere on the blank mat) and then your little guy should be ungrouped and the parts should move. If you have all your Minions grouped - you might have to do it twice - ungroup the set - then ungroup the individual Minion. If you are going to resize (you can do this by just dragging on a corner of the bounding box) - do that before ungrouping so all the parts stay in the correct proportions.

You can also try releasing the compound path to separate the pieces. It is in the drop down menu near the group/ungroup.
