If you emboss in color, what is your preference and why?
I just got back into stamping. I used to have a bunch of colors of pigment ink to emboss with clear powder, but they all went dry so I had to pitch them. I'm trying to decide what I want to do and why. I have a Versamark pad, clear, white, and black embossing powders (plus a couple of cheesy colors). Should I invest in stamp pads (I would probably get minis) or should I invest in colored embossing powder?
Thanks!

I think it kind of depends on the finished look you're going for. The colored ink/clear powder seems to be a little less opaque than the colored powders. With the colored ink pads (especially if you get the smaller cat's eye or petal shaped ones) you can do a multicolored effect by using several ink colors on the stamp with clear powder a lot easier than trying to get multiple colors of powder in specific areas on the stamped design.
If you tend to want to color in the embossed designs with pens or watercolor, then the Versamark/black powder combo that you already have will work great for that. (I like the extra fine detail powders for that.) You could also add gold or silver colored powders, they are nice for holiday projects, wedding cards, etc.
Personally if it was me (and it might very well be soon, because I haven't looked at a lot of my pigment ink pads in years), I would just wait and see what projects come up and then get whatever new stuff I need as I go.

I definitely prefer the look of colored powder vs. colored ink + clear powder, but I guess it depends on how many colors you would want. I keep sparkly white, off-white, black, clear and two types each of silver and gold powders on hand. I don't find myself wanting much beyond that.

I use just VersaMark and clear or colored powder. Like the PP, I have white, off-white, clear, black, silver and gold. I also have a white and black sparkly.
