Did I do something wrong? I used a thin die yesterday with my Big Shot, and the paper is stuck to it. It's a small die that cuts and embosses. I mean, the paper is molded to the die! I can't get my fingernail (or anything else) under the paper to lift it off. Has this happened to you, and how did you get the paper off? It's not real thin paper, so I don't think that would be the problem. Maybe I shouldn't use that type of die with the Big Shot? Anybody have any ideas?

I use wafer thin dies with my Big Shot all the time. Paper or cardstock does often get stuck, particularly with intricate dies. Are there holes in the die for poking the paper out? Sometimes dropping the die on the floor helps dislodge it, or use a pin to carefully lift up one of the edges of the die cut and lift it out. The other thing that some people swear by is using dryer sheets to help the cardstock release. There are a number of videos on YouTube on how to do that - here's an example: m.youtube.com/watch?v=oCKaBy116v0HTH!

I often use a pin to get them out, it's nice when there are holes to push the pin through but if there aren't I just basically skewer the paper at an angle and lift it out, if that makes sense.

I was at a crop this past weekend and someone told me to cut with a piece of waxed paper closest to the die. It makes it release easier. I haven't tried it myself but thought I'd throw it out there.

Dryer sheets!! I have fallen in love with all of my dies. I don't hesitate to purchase an intricate die because I know a dryer sheet will help to eject the pieces. Here ya go.... Ejecting paper from a die

Thank you so much! I am going to try the dryer sheets. How do people think of these things?! I would have thrown that die out and never used one again!

Holy cow. How did anyone think to use dryer sheets? Thanks CeeScraps for posting that link.

It is....I played with the layers of fabric sheets to see what works in my machine. I use them multiple times. It is a wonderful thing.

I just use waxed paper between the die and cardstock to be cut. I only heard recently about the dryer sheet trick, and I just haven't tried it yet. The waxed paper works well for me, though.

I just seen a fancy tool for getting the paper out and lifting the paper form the die itself when it's stuck. It's at Michaels. I always use a pin though.
I'm going to have to try the dryer sheet idea though. Thanks!

I tried The dryer sheets on some dice I never use because they are such a pain! It is miraculous! I have one of them that doesn't cut very well my have to shim. The dryer sheets acted as a sham. I also found they help to reinforce the embossing that is on the dies. I love it! Thanks for posting the tip

Janet I went to a card making class at our library recently and the instructor had us use waxed paper for this purpose. Worked like a charm!!!

So you have to run the die through it one time with just the paper? And then again with the dryer sheets?

I tried the wax paper with a couple of intricate dies and had no luck. I ended up having to get paper and waxed paper out of the die. Yuck. I'm goin to give the dryer sheets a shot.
