What is this guest bathroom you speak of??
We have two, one (mine) that is neat and tidy (with extra tp in a decrorative box along with tampons-which incidentally is also where I hide stuff from the boys who think tampons will burn out their retinas) and two, the boys bathroom (aka the one that is not all the dissimilar to one found in bus stations.)
I have no clue what the disposition of the toilet paper in the boys bathroom. I don't go in there. And I recommend that any guests, unless wearing hazmat suits, avoid it as well.

Yes, because our house did not come with toilet paper rolls attached to the walls. Instead we have those stand up holders that hold one on the roll and 3 more in the tube thingie.

We only have family over since I don't like to entertain so I don't care what they think. I just leave the extra toilet paper in the package on the floor near the toilet. The cabinet is full of cleaning products and if you ran out while on the toilet you would have to drip all the way to the cupboard so I'm not making space any time soon.
When I was a kid my mom had a little thing that looked like a winter hat to cover an extra roll on the back of the toilet and put the rest away she would probably hate the way I do it.

Yes, for the reason you listed. I don't want to leave anyone stranded.
And we have ridiculous amounts of extra rolls under the cabinet in the bathroom.

I do...a nice holder in the corner...but I guess it wasn't visible enough...since I had an embroidered roll on the back of the toilet that said Joe's Reading Room....one of my recent guests came out with it all torn up saying she needed the toilet paper...and she carefully unpinned it....really!!!!!

Yes in a pretty basket along with a clean hand towel or two because as a guest I would not want to be searching cupboards!

Yes. I have a small decorative wicker basket on the back of the toilet that holds an extra roll, and I usually have more toilet paper in the vanity.

So - in light of this conversation. How do you estimate if you need extra rolls vs number of guests invited at one time? If you have a get together with lets say 10 guests plus your family, how many rolls should you be prepared with? I know that this is a funny question - but how many people per roll? If you have a total of 12 people at an event - 2 rolls or 3? Is there a formula we need to know?

Yes! It sets on a shelf above the toiler in a wire basket, along with some air freshener. There are actually two shelves with functional items (spare hand towels), and some decorative items on each. (framed quote, candle) We have a pedastal sink, so this works out best for us.

I put a new roll on when people are coming over. If it's an event where people are over at least a few hours, part way through, I change that roll out and put on a new one. The cabinet is close enough to reach in if you're sitting on the toilet so there are no real worries.

We have one of these in all our bathrooms. I want one of those. I have TP visible at all time - if not DH sits there and hollers for me to get it for him. But really I want one of those. I just pulled this picture from the internet...I bought our holders at Target.

I have a clear tall vase thing from hobby lobby next to the toilet and it holds 3 or 4 rolls. Otherwise they're in the linen closet, which is in the bathroom. In our master bath I just keep the toilet paper next to the toilet (in the original pkg-we buy the tall flat packages for that bathroom). I don't have a lot of storage in the master bath.

No, mine is not out on display. I have three baskets, one in each bathroom, that sits right in the front of the cabinet. When you open the door, the full basket is sitting within reach of the toilet.
My toilet paper isn't the type that is individually wrapped, so it would be just a container of open rolls gathering dust. I suppose I could cover each roll in a coordinating piece of scrapbook paper to make the bathroom look totally together. I'll tie each roll shut with a nice piece of silk ribbon. No, I'm kidding. I figure people can open the cabinet and see the basket of paper. Or, if they are too shy to open the cabinet, they can always use the kleenex that is in there.

Yes and if we have guests I make sure to have at least 2 or 3 extra rolls. I have a fear of running out of TP and I never feel comfortable rooting around in someone else's house in the cabinets to look for it. We have a pedestal sink so there is a nice cupboard/cabinet on the wall that has a shelf. I make sure that the shelf has rolls visible along with air freshener and a few extra hand towels.

I have holders in both upstairs bathrooms which hold three rolls of toilet paper, so guests can always find extra toilet paper should they need it. I have to confess though, the holders are more for me than the guests. I am the only person in my family who is capable of replacing rolls of toilet paper apparently and I got tired of having to trek to the linen closet when I realized too late that I had been left with a depleted roll of toilet paper! LOL!

No, but there are always several rolls in the vanity under the sink. There aren't any other cabinets in the bathroom, so I assume if someone ran out they would look there.

No, I keep extra rolls in the bathroom linen closet. I check the bathrooms to make sure they have a full roll before company comes over.

We have a small, wire stand in the bathroom that holds extra towels etc. It has a drawer at the top that I keep extra rolls. So, not really on display but where they can be easily seen if needed.

Ours is kinda like the one in the pic above but it only holds one. I like that one that holds two! Ours gets used quiet a bit especially this time of year when everyone comes to swim. I do keep extra ones either on the tank or in the cabinet under the sink.

If a roll is low, I put out a new one for company and stash the partially used one. Replace it when company is gone. I don't want to leave extra rolls out and don't want people digging thru my closets for tp!

Yes, I have an antique wooden tool box that sits on the floor with extra TP, small spray can of odor eliminating stuff, extra bottle of handsoap and some hand lotion. I always check the room before company but I just want supplies visable "just in case" anyone needs anything. I also have a dispenser of paper hand towels and an antique ladder which serves as a towel rack with several cloth hand towels. Something for everyone. The only thing I don't have is a convenient way for any Pea-like people who want to flush with their foot!

Of course. I wouldn't want people having to search the bathroom for it. Looking in the cupboards is not something I would want to do.

I have a cabinet on the wall with chicken wire on the doors, so you can see the toilet paper if you need a refill.
Funny story:
Years ago, my sister was hosting a baby shower and realized that she only had one roll of toilet paper left. Her husband had taken the kids and the car, so she was stranded, unable to run to the store. She called my mom in a panic and asked her to discreetly (keyword: discreetly) to bring an extra roll. When guests started to arrive, close relatives (grandma, our sister in law and several aunts) proceeded to pull rolls of toilet paper out of their purses and bags to give to my sister. One aunt even used elaborate ribbon and wrapping paper.
Discretion is not one of my mom's stronger quality, but she is funny!
