I have a cabinet on the wall with chicken wire on the doors, so you can see the toilet paper if you need a refill. Funny story: Years ago, my sister was hosting a baby shower and realized that she only had one roll of toilet paper left. Her husband had taken the kids and the car, so she was stranded, unable to run to the store. She called my mom in a panic and asked her to discreetly (keyword: discreetly) to bring an extra roll. When guests started to arrive, close relatives (grandma, our sister in law and several aunts) proceeded to pull rolls of toilet paper out of their purses and bags to give to my sister. One aunt even used elaborate ribbon and wrapping paper. Discretion is not one of my mom's stronger quality, but she is funny! hahahaha this is too funny

I keep them under the cabinet-I do try and make sure it is a full roll before an event.

Our spare rolls are out, but not seen. I have a cute little hand made cloth froggy with a big skirt that hides one roll and another looks like an antique container but it was made for a spare roll. Under our sink if full of towels and cleansers.

I do...a nice holder in the corner...but I guess it wasn't visible enough...since I had an embroidered roll on the back of the toilet that said Joe's Reading Room....one of my recent guests came out with it all torn up saying she needed the toilet paper...and she carefully unpinned it....really!!!!! You embroidered on a roll of tp? Am I reading that right?

Not in display, under sink cabinet but I will leave an extra roll out since it will inevitably be used.

Only one bathroom in our condo, no TP on display other than the current 'in-use' roll, if you want to call that display. Replacement rolls in the vanity. Don't even have to get up to get another roll. Open the door, insert hand, and you should be able to reach a roll.
And gee, this thread is all kinds of funny at three pages.
To the person who asked about how to compute rolls vs. guests, just reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, "Can you spare a square."

Yes. In my guest bathroom I have a basket that is always stocked with extra rolls.

I have a holder from the container store...basically a piece of curved metal upright that I can load with up to three rolls. it sits next to the toilet. Same here.

Thanks for all of the replies.
I have two bathrooms on the main floor. Both have pedistal sinks, neither has room for a cabinet. One of my friends has a basket with TP, another friend has a rod with rolls stacked on it. Don't know if I should do something like that or not. I don't really like TP out - want it safely ticked away where it can't get wet, etc.
P. I can't put a nice basket on the too of our toilets because that is where our flusher is - we have the two push system on top.

Am I the only one worried about dust collecting on open-stored rolls? Or does that go on the other thread about how clean is clean?

Yes...not really meant as a display, but there are always 3 extra rolls in a small handled basket sitting in the floor back by the wall between the toilet and cabinet.

the main bathroom has an open basket with spare rolls on the shelving unit over the toilet and the master bathroom has a basket that hangs from the side of the tank.
However none of my children have mastered the skill of re-filling the basket in the main bathroom when they use the last roll so....I always have to check before guests arrive to make sure there's a roll on the holder never mind spares in the basket.

I found a seagull on a stick...LOL at Home Goods the other day that stands about 2 ft tall. I think he was broken, because his body detached from the stick. But it makes a great tp holder! He looks cute in the corner & can easily hold 2 rolls.

I just make sure there is a fresh roll when people come over and check it through the evening ... extras are kept under the sink in the cabinet ... hopefully, in an emergency, someone would look there Leanne

No, extra TP is not out on display. Our guest bathroom has a vanity/cabinet and we keep the extra rolls in there. I figure folks are smart enough to open the cabinet if the TP should happen to run out and I don't catch it first. I know I would be poking around in the cabinets if that happened to me when I was a guest at someone else's house. Our downstairs powder room also has a cabinet, in which I keep a couple of extra rolls. If we are having a party, I will put a sign on the cabinet door with the location, but otherwise, I figure that people can root around in the cabinet for them.

I don't have them out but there is a cabinet under the sink and the extra TP rolls are in there if needed. I figure if someone doesn't know and they ran out, it would be natural to check there for extra rolls.

Only one bathroom in our house and we keep all the tp in the vanity, including the one in use! We renovated about 8 months ago and I haven't found the right holder. My DH and I can't agree on bars vs hooks for towels, so we don't have any of those either. When we have guests over who haven't been here before, I usually put a sticky note where the tp would normally be and tell them to look in the vanity. The whole drawer is tp and tissue. We haven't had any "formal" guests over, just family and friends, no one has said anything, but maybe they just silently judge me! Haha! I make sure that I lay out a fresh hand towel on the side of the sink. If we have a crowd, I use those disposable towels in a box to cut down on germs being spread, but I hate the waste.

Our extra rolls are in the vanity cabinet next to the toilet. I'm hoping guests are as comfortable looking in the cabinet as I am with them doing it.

Am I the only one worried about dust collecting on open-stored rolls? O Quite possibly! They don't stay there long enough to collect enough dust to worry about:)

Yes ... 3 extras on an enclosed shelf. Easy to find, if needed.

Yes, we do. When we host a get-together, we make sure there is a fresh roll on the tp dispenser. It would be too awkward to reach and open the cabinet door when sitting on the toilet in the guest bathroom, so I keep two extras in a basket within reach.

No. When I am expecting guests I put a new roll in the holder, using up the old one in the master bath. I put out a fresh roll too. But I just put the old one under the sink with the refills. I used to like those dolls with the big crocheted dresses with a roll of TP hiding underneath. I was too young to care at the time, but were they for decoration or function?IOW did your mom ever freak out because someone actually used the TP under the doll? Lol

I don't have extra sitting out or on display in any bathroom. In the master and the hall baths, extras are in the linen closets. In the bathroom in the basement, they are in a cabinet on the wall right over the back of the toilet. And in the powder room that is most used by guests, extras are in the bottom of the vanity which is reachable from your "sitting position."
I do make sure there's an adequate amount of paper on the roll in the guest bathroom but I also trust that if the roll did run out, surely to goodness people would simply look under the vanity for more.

The only thing I have to worry about is that they are up on a shelf in our Master Bath because the dogs will get to them if I don't.

No extra rolls on display but I make sure they are in the vanity cabinet. However, I have had some people that don't want to open cabinets and have told me the roll was empty. At the lake, I do make sure I have an extra roll on the back of the toilet if there will be others over.
