Are you going to be watching the Empire finale? We have a brand new 50" t.v. and I have to say that I'm very excited to watch it for 2 hr. I don't usually like the "nighttime soap opera" type shows but this has been so good. Sex-drugs-and rock 'n roll. What more could you ask for on the big screen

Yes! Two hour finale! I was hooked from episode one. It didn't take any time to warm up to the story, the characters, the outrageousness of it all. Loved it. Like a hip hop Dynasty/Dallas/Melrose Place all rolled into one. Really looking forward to the next season and how they're going to wrap it up tonight.

I think that's one reason why I love it. From the clothes, to the music, the characters. Even though it's outrageous, it's very contemporary. L-O-V-E it! So many things to think about . I think that I also like it so much because the plot is easy to follow. Even though there is a lot going on, it's pretty mindless watching

They carry a story but don't draw it out until the viewer is exasperated (Black List anyone?). I know Cookie is amazing but the entire cast has good storylines and are just as interesting, too.

Was this episode really 2 hours? It's not showing 2 hours on Hulu? I watched it on TV last night but then when I read it here, thought I missed a 2nd hour. The way it ended @9pm eastern time, it seemed like the typical cliff hanger ending for the end of a season.
NEVERMIND.....found the 2nd half on HULU

Yes, it was 2 hours. The first hour ended with Cookie in the bedroom with Lucious. I missed the beginning of the 2nd hour, so I'm not sure where it started.
(Can I just say, for the record, that I LOVE Taraji and Terrence. It's so wonderful to watch great actors in really good scripted shows!)

LOVE this show!! I'm sure I'll watch it again for all of the things I missed. It was a pleasant surprise that it went 2 hours - It's going to be a long summer until season 2.

One thing, not related to Empire, that I was somewhat confused about...Is Terrence Howard doing another series on Fox in the fall? Or was that like a movie or mini-series or something? (With Matt Dillon)

I read that Debbie Allen choreographed that scene between Cookie and Boo Boo Kitty. After she threw her drink and popped her I thought that was it. Nope! And when Lucious decked Hakeem? Wow. The moment Lucious proclaimed himself to be a god I knew it wouldn't bode well for him. Not sure if I'm crazy about Jennifer Hudson's character in the show. Not really interested in seeing that character get fleshed out more in the next season.

I'm not reading the rest of the thread for fear of spoilers because I'm 10 episodes behind! I was intrigued enough by the first 2 that I'll finish the series sometime.

So Cookie "always has Jamal's back" but is participating in stealing Empire from him? That won't be good for thier relationship.
Really glad for Andre and Rhonda with their baby news.....
I was very surprised that Jamal did what he did to get to Billy Beretti.....doesn't seem like he would stoop that low.
Cookie's sister, Carol looks so familiar to me....
Patti LaBelle is soooo awesome! I bet Jussie Smollett (Jamal) loved every minute singing with her.
The way Andre and Hakeem looked at their dad as he was escorted out after being arrested.....made me shiver!
......
The show with Terrence Howard and Matt Dillon looks interesting. I will probably tune in!

I know Cookie is amazing but the entire cast has good storylines and are just as interesting, too. this is why I like this show so much----they don't drag out their plots until you lose interest. this is why we are getting bored of Blacklist. it's always question after question with no resolution in sight. with empire, it's question---answer---new question---new answer. I love the fast pace and plot twists. take Lucious' arrest---I thought it was going to be cliffhanger who framed him or turned him in. nope. right off the bat it was his right hand man. looks like Lucious is shaping up to be the next JR Ewing. guess that means there will be a "who shot Lucious" episode around the corner.

SPOILER WARNING! Love the show but they crammed waaaay too much into this finale...it was one thing after another and it became ridiculous. Cookie trying to kill Lucious = 1 episode. luscious learning he doesn't have ALS = 1 episode. Bipolar nephew's wife kills uncle and reveals she pregnant = 1 episode. Cookie beatdown of Boo Boo Kitty = 1 episode with extra popcorn The show is a big hit, the producers can take their time with this and give us something to savor for a little longer.
