My husband and I are at the beginning stages of planning a tropical vacation for next February! I have looked at apple vacations already and actually found the resort that we want to stay in. But today I found the exact same resort on Bookit.com and it is $600 less, has a better return flight home, and also includes a resort credit. Because I have never used Bookit.com before, I am honestly a little sceptical.
Please share your thoughts!

Anyone ever used a booking service like this for something outside of the United States? Rather than a travel agent?

I would suggest that you research via the internet and then contact a local T/A and book thru them. If the T/A's rates are more than what you found on-line, ask the agent if they will price match it, a lot of times they will be able to. Nothing like having a person to go if you have a problem while on your trip.

We usually use a Travel Agent to book big vacations and coordinate everything (air, car, hotel). We have used Hotels.com and Southwest vacations for short weekend trips. Sorry I can't help but I've never heard of Bookit.

Thanks ladies! I actually called the resort agency, and was asking questions, and they said they can try to price match it for me. I was supposed to call them back today, and walked out without our passports! I hope the prices don't change much today before I get home and can call back!

I have used both Expedia and Travelocity to book trips to Mexico. I had a positive experience with both sites.

I have used book it to book punta cana this past april and used them again to book costa rica this coming up november. I love them , everything went smooth, great prices and when i had called and had questions they answered right away and answered all my questions. when i wanted to call the hotel directly (punta cana #) i called bookit and they connected me directly to the hotel I love them.

where are you going ? We are going to a brand new Dreams resort in Costa Rica. It open this November, but we aren't traveling until next February! I'm hopeful that all the "newness" kinks will be worked out with the first 4 months, when we arrive! Thanks Gravity! I don't know why I am so sceptical, I jsut am. I second guess that I would be told about any/all "hidden fees" and stuff like that! BUT - Listen to what I did, and the great deal I received!! I found the great deal on Bookit.com and because of my scepticism, I called Apple Vacations directly to ask some specific questions. Well, Apple Vacations has a price matching department, and THEY MATCHED THE PRICE OF BOOKIT.COM, no questions asked. As long as they can find the deal themselves on bookit.com - They will match that price and everything that is being offered. The AV rep at first thought that maybe it didn't cover the transfers to and from the airport, BUT IT DID! And, it also offered a $400 resort credit (based on the room we chose). I'm pretty excited! we saved $600 by doing this!!!! SO PUMPED, and looking forward to Costa Rica!!!!

We stayed at a Dreams resort in Mexico a few years ago. We enjoyed it. The entertainment staff was really great. Have a great trip!
