The expo is in town today through Saturday! Did anyone go today? My usual scrappy partner in crime isn't able to make it this year, and I'm debating whether or not to go myself. BUT, if there are any amazing finds/deals/etc, I'd like to know before I decide. I can only go Saturday, so if anyone has any reports, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

I went! It was my first time, after many years of wanting to go. I was surprised at how big it was compared to Ontario, which is the only other Expo I've been to. I got there late this afternoon and spent about 2 hours in the booth areas. If you're a shopper, they had a pretty amazing volume of items, especially paper, kits and embellishments.
I've been doing a lot of online shopping lately, so I wasn't looking to buy much. Prices seemed like regular retail for the most part. The mark downs were mostly on quantities. My only purchase was some 6 x 6 paper pads at the Authentique booth.
I also did the Make and Take Crop tonight, based on recommendations I had seen here. The projects were fun to do. There were about 10 of them plus a gift bag of your choice with lots of items. Those ladies were still going strong when I left at 10. I think they said there were 300 attending, which isn't bad for a Thursday night.
They had a big area set up at the crop for testing out and using lots of equipment - die cutters, punches, printers. They were letting people print up to 10 pictures on the Canon Selphy. All in all, I had a good time, came home with lots of goodies, and would like to go again next year.

I'm debating going to tomorrow. I will probably go solo too because my friend is out of town. I haven't been in years but I'm dying to stock up on paper at the Authentique Paper booth. I just went to the Stamp expo last weekend so no more stamps for me. I just went to a Prima Marketing warehouse a few weeks ago so I'm flush with flowers too. I'm always in the market for paper so that would be the only reason for me to go.
if anyone went today, did you go to the Authentique Paper booth? how were their prices?

papersilly, the Authentique booth was great. I think the 6 x 6 pads were 3 for $10, and some were thicker ones. They had racks of items for $1, $3, etc. I can't remember the 12 x 12 paper pad pricing, but I think it was 3 for $20? They had tons of things to choose from, and a very knowledgable and friendly staff to help find coordinating items. Have fun tomorrow if you go!

LOL. but, those prices are pretty good so dang it---- I may have to go to check it out for myself. thanks for the info!!

papersilly I didn't get there until late on Thursday, so there were no lines. It wasn't very crowded, but I imagine it will be on Saturday. There were stations where you could scan your barcode if you register online, so maybe that would save waiting time. There were so many vendors, and their booths were packed. I wandered up and down each aisle, but I was visually overwhelmed by the first 1/2 aisle, so I just zeroed in on the things I already know and love. The pricing at most places was retail, maybe slightly less, but many had deals in bins that I didn't look through. Authentique was one of the few booths that represented their own brand, and they had lots of all of their lines. Almost all of the other booths were stores, either with a big variety, or a focus on lines they specialized in. Queen & Co. had their own booth. I'm not too much into bling, charms, fluffy stuff, so I passed those by, but there were lots of them. You could definitely do some damage to your bank account without trying too hard! Sorry to enable, but if you're into Authentique, it's probably worth the trip.

I'm passing this year. I really need to use what I have and I know I'd be tempted to buy, especially dies (you don't use them up so they're a good investment, right? ). And then there's parking, admission, and food. I figured I'd put the money toward a new phone instead. Lovin' my iPhone 6 plus.

I just got back from it. I stocked up on a ton of paper. the deals offset the cost of parking and getting in. I met a bunch of scrappers from this board and another board so that was a cool moment.
ETA: thanks to one of the ladies I met who gave me this! I forgot your name but I hope you are registered here too. thanks again!

papersilly, since you keep coming back to this thread I am just going to go ahead and tag you to ask you a few questions. How was the stamp expo? Is that the one in Carson? Is it worth going to? How is the parking? Thanks!

FurryP the stamp show is great. the only time I go is when Tim Holtz is there doing demos for Stampers Anonymous. they are probably the biggest vendor there. the expo is still very good even though it's about 1/2 the size that it used to be. there are still lots of other vendors. parking is free and there is lots of it close to the entrance. I think it's worth going to since there are still lots vendors, there are lots of make and takes and demos and they give away lots of door prizes. the venue in Carson is right off the freeway and it's in a safe area because it's held right there at City Hall. the next one is in July and I think Tim Holtz will be doing demos again.

I was interested in attending that, but couldn't figure out the times from their website (and I had a special project at work anyway). Was it an all-day or evening event?

FurryPea, I go to the stamp convention in Carson every year and it's great. It isn't just stamps stamps. There are a lot of dies, stencils, embellishments, multi media stuff, etc.--just not much paper. They have make and takes as well. You really ought to check it out.

The Make and Take crop was a separately purchased event that was from 6 to midnight. As you walked in, you got a bag with all of the item kits and a nicely printed instruction book. They had a new project every 30 minutes that was guided by an instructor, with helpers walking through the room. It was very well organized, and the projects were easy to make. Each had a little something that was new to me. Most were cards, but there was also a jewelry piece and a couple of page layouts. I think this is the usual format, and it is always on the first night of the Expo. I would go again, and will watch for it at the Ontario Expo in October.

I went to the Stamp Expo AND the Scrapbook Expo and was finally able to meet PaperSilly in person! Had awesome time both days and made haul videos of what I got (links in sig) which was SO surreal for me. I'm like one of those official youtube people now, lol! I really enjoyed seeing Tim at the Stamp Expo (it was my second time, and last year he wasn't there when I was)and if he's gonna be there in July I might convince husband to take me again (and nudge PaperSilly in front of the demo booth). The Scrapbook Expo is something I never miss. Since 2004 when I started scrapbooking I think I've missed *one* and that was the Ontario one because we were snowed in.... not that that will happen again with CA's terrible drought.
