The manager said it was bigger than the last place but the scrapbook supplies is a lot smaller than ever. Nothing I saw that I would have wanted. I did see something I need to get for a friend but that was it. Not too exciting.

That's disappointing. I guess he was talking about the whole store in general.

Sad! My closest Ms will be moving to a larger space within a month. I don't know why I even bother going there right now - they're obviously trying to get rid of as much stock as they can so I really haven't seen anything new. I was in there yesterday and heard someone say that the new place is a LOT bigger. I sure hope that the scrapbooking section in the new store gets more space and stuff too!

I've noticed that about our michaels. it looks like their scrapbook aisles are the same but a lot of the stuff has been replaced with party related items like decorations and invitations made to look like it could be part of scrapbooking. I definitely think they are sizing down their scrapbook section.

My closest M's is the new-model version they did several years ago, with all the scrapping in the middle. It still seems to be full, but that includes stamping, stickers, and ribbon. However, sometimes the old version store closer to my job has better items, that my store does not get.
I am trying to stay away from both stores, but usually when I do visit, I tend to go to both at one point or another.
ETA: yes, it also includes the banner, bags, clothes pin stuff they started coming out with recently.

So sorry to hear that about Michaels. I was in 3 Joann's in the past week and the scrapbook section is almost non existent. It looks pretty much like the scrapbook section in 1998 and everything was old. I am so glad I have hoarded all these years because getting something new looks like an impossibility. Hobby Lobby is the only place still interested in photo memory keeping.

I went to two different Michael's around Christmas time and the newer, slightly smaller Michael's didn't have much at all in the scrap/paper craft section. I was surprised at how little space was dedicated to it. The bigger, older Michael's always has the newest stuff, and several aisles full of scrappy goodness but it's a little further away.
Fortunately my Joann's is great and has a ton of scrapbook stuff.

I haven't been in Michael's in a while as my store is pretty small but luckily my Joann's more than makes up for it and so does my Hobby Lobby.

I was in an established Michael's a few days ago, and was surprised (not in a good way) to see that the scrapbooking section was towards the back in the corner, past the 'kid's crafts' section!! The front-and-center area is all beading, which is how it's been for a while, but I'm used to the scrapping and papercrafting section being just to one side, but still in the front of the store- they moved it towards the back of the store!
eta: and still, not much new there that was NOT Recollections brand. Some of which is okay, but in my opinion, some of it is just 'off' a little in terms of the colors, prints, and papers.

A new Michaels is under construction. The employees and manager from the "old" Michaels told me it will be smaller than the current Michaels.

Ok i should write more. They have the beading section right up at the front of the store. That is great and they have the coolest buttons or beads or charms or something or other. They are just so cool! They are various metals and things. I could totally use them for scrapbooking, but they are not in the SBS (scrapbook section). I noticed I didn't see Gelatos or anything like that anymore. I was in a hurry that night so I didn't have a lot of time to peruse but I will go this week or next and see if there is anything I can't live without. Open mind!
ETA I will take a picture of whatever I buy then you will know. Ok?

yup, hoarding for the win. The 'new' Michaels around here moved from a space in one strip mall to a space in the strip mall across the street. The 'new' space is a lot smaller than the previous one. I never liked the previous store because the stuff was always out of date and it was dark and dingy. I was hoping the newer space would mean they'd start getting the newer stuff, but alas- I was wrong.

Hobby Lobby is the only place still interested in photo memory keeping. My Joann's is like that, too. Relocated a few years ago and their scrapping section is small, pitiful & dated. That sucks, Delta Dawn. Nothing like getting excited about a new store and having it be a bust. I have 2 Michael's w/in 30 min. of my house and one seems to be getting smaller and not having as much new product. The other one, thankfully, is set up like FurryP's and seems to have a better selection. Hobby Lobby is OK, but nothing great. I do most of my shopping online and there is, of course, my hoard. Like you guys, I'm really glad I stocked up when I did. A few years ago I was convinced I would never use it all up and now . . .
