I am looking at some new storage options for my scrap/craft room and found exactly what I want at ikea online. I have never shopped at ikea before and because I am not in a rush (I still have three weeks left of tax season and won't be doing much reorganizing before it is over) I was wondering if there is a sale or anything that I should wait for. Or if there is some insider thing I should know about.

I've seen seasonal items on sale (Christmas, summer) and items that are being discontinued clearanced, but have never seen regular sales at Ikea.

They occasionally put specific items on sale, or entire sections of the store (like their kitchen promotion) but they don't really have store-wide sales, and I don't think I've ever seen coupons.

The have monthly promotions on the "Family" program ... it is a set list of items across their product lines. You might look into that

If you enroll in their shoppers' program, they'll have special items on sale each month. I think most promotions are in the -10-20% off range. Unless it's clearance, I've never noticed a big box -40% type promo.

My Ikea has a 'scratch and dent' area...BF and her children can find everything in there - me nothing! There is also a tent sale in the early summer - again bits an pieces, sometimes a find often not.

I would just add that if you pick things to make something like a set of cabinets with matching tabletop/desk surfaces, make sure to buy it all at the same time or within a short period of time. Nothing like starting something and having it discontinued, and no more of what you want left in stock, and the replacement isn't exactly the same, doesn't match, etc.

We bought three closets & accessories ($1900.) for dd's loft and signed up for friends and family. If the item goes on sale within 90 days, they give you a refund. You have to go in and request with your receipt.
The closets and accessories all went on sale and we got $400. back!
