I have sold them at a craft fair, but priced them very cheaply. Just two dollars apiece and all the money collected went to relay for life. I have often sold them at church to donate to a specific cause. I don't think you can charge enough to actually make money on them. The materials and the time make some very expensive. At two dollars apiece, I do get a lot of buyers. I've even had people request certain cards.

I think scrapaddie makes a good point. If you sell them at gallery shops and such you can get what they're worth. I've seen some selling (and people buying) for as much as $12. There's a book by Gloria Page Called Holy Moly Mackeroly, that tells all about how she made a living selling handmade cards. Interesting read.

Maybe I should up the price! Somebody at church today asked me to make 40 of one specific card!

My friend sells cards at craft shows. She has some cheaper cards...simply stamped or printed cards that she sells for 2 or 3 dollars and bulky more ornate cards she sells for about 6 dollars. She thinks she should raise her prices, (as do I) but she is afraid people won't buy them.

It's very difficult to do. Very difficult.
There are many reasons. People don't use as many actual cards as they once did. Cards can be obtained inexpensively, even at the dollar store. Most non-crafters do not understand what kind of time and expense is involved in creating cards. There are a lot of hidden expenses related to having a booth at a craft mall or market. And then there's always the "oh how cute...I could so make that"...

I sell mine for 2 bucks or 3 for 5 bucks. I have making what I think are cute cards down to a science. I usually make 4 from a 12x12.
Last weekend at a 2 day craft fair at a church made 67 bucks and my table mate made 40ish. Table was 25 bucks we split. Got to hang with my friend and turned my huge stash of cards for a little cash.
Today at work we had a mini craft show and I made 95 bucks. So no its not a living but I make so many cards I gotta do something with them.
