I'm Catholic and while I don't believe that (my beliefs) a pastor is clairvoyant (in general) however, I DO believe that a person can "hear" or experience very personal and emotional callings towards church and a spiritual life.
I was a cradle catholic went to church until college, then just stopped for no real reason other than busy work lazy. When I bought a house in a different part of town, I kept driving by a church I had been to many times while dating a particular guy years prior, I swear I felt called and pulled to go there. I called went in and have been there for a lot of years.
At the time, while generally happy and life being good, I was about to embark on some really difficult times (surgeries a death in the family and a few accidents) it was almost like my life was guided there to prepare me for what was to come. By this it was not all about the religion, I met one of my bestest friends, met good solid people, doctors whom later helped me, and just a network of caring fabulous people! I also filled a void that had been missing in my life by getting involved in ministries there too.
It sounds like you have a guide of sorts, be open to it, erase your childhood ideals of what church was for you then just and just be mindful and present while your experience this!
