I am noticing your broom collection in the background. I might need an explanation. Since she has Glinda's dress it makes sense that she has a few of the Witch's brooms, too. LOL Too good! Welcome back! I'm sorry about your health changes, hope things improve. You gave me some helpful and inspiring advice when I was down about weight and health. I gave up diet soda with your support! I have a real one as a treat sometimes, but am so much better. Glad you're back!

OMG, I read a few of my mom's Cherry Ames books! And a few of her Trixie Belden books, which I then read many of as a child. I even added to the collection as an adult. Gotta love eBay! Um, so you've read a few of YOUR MOTHER'S Trixie Belden books??? OMG, now I feel about 100 years old LOL! AussieMeg, I am firmly in my 40's. Those books were first published in 1948. Does that help at all? I have not heard of Sue Barton and will be sure to check those out.

Welcome back. 2. Seeing your book titles reminds me that I used to enjoy your posts about religion. They had an academic bent and helped dispel a lot of the 20th Century-created myths about the history of Christianity. . How nice! Thank you! ExJob was at a theological library association. I coordinated digitizing hundreds of academic journals in religion. And created MARC records. So now I feel like I never want to see or read anything in that area ever again. Plus they were such douchebags to me and to the others they let go. I hope I'm not sick of the whole subject for the rest of my life. Right now the thought of reading anything in that subject makes me want to vomit. But I'm glad that my little bit of knowledge was interesting to you. And it sure does feel like "just a little" now that I know how much I DONT know. ETA - and yes I realize some pea detective might use this and try and find out where it was - no problem. I don't work there anymore and the place has changed for the worse since the exec leadership has been retiring and replaced with certain people. Most of my friends and coworkers have been let go as well. Ugh.

I did not recognize the username, but the minute I opened the thread, I knew it was Mariah/Benem. The brooms were a dead give-away. Welcome back. I'm glad to hear your updates, but sorry they are not all positive. I wish the best for you. How funny! I didn't even think about them being in the photo. And they've only been up for a month (bc I just re painted in Feb) And thank you, very kind. As for the dress - well when you are 17 that's when you should wear a dress that's just "too much". :-)

I am now noticing you have two books with white on the spine with bitch in the title. Thanks for the explanation on the brooms. It is lovely to find something uniquely handmade with quality in the world of mass manufactured throw-away items! Welcome back, Benem! (After I read page 2..... I am sorry about your health problems. I hope you can turn them back around in the other direction.) One of the books was a birthday gift from my friend Amelia and its about cooking gluten free. And she DID buy it for be bc of the title. We have this thing, that goes like this: Me: Why?? Why?? Why are people so mean, why would someone do that, whine whine, cry, cry... Her: Because, bitches. Or this one: That's right, I have a pink dress. BITCHEZ. Amelia went to college where I went to grad school so she is much younger than me. And a lot of fun.

We think that our loud, bright colours are new, but the Victorians wore really acid bright colours because the synthetic dyes were so cheap and formerly the fabric colours most people could afford were so dull. We think of the Victorians being dull and muted because the dyes have faded so much over time.. That is fascinating! I had no idea.

If you want to see more brooms go to Twitter and look for #BroomMateSelfie Seth Myers did a whole "least trending hashtag" bit on that one. I immediately got up and took like 5 pics and tweeted them at him with the hashtag. Lol

Welcome back, Benem!
Just to the right of the Cherry Ames series, I see The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew. That was one of my favorites (until I discovered Little Women, my all-time favorite children's book). My fifth grade teacher had the Nancy Drew series on her classroom bookshelf, and I think I read all of them, plus several of the Bobbsey Twins books. And the Hardy Boys, too. I'm sure those book would seem very dated now (remembering Nancy and her blue roadster--old-fashioned even in the 1950s), but it would be fun to read them again.
You mentioned that you chose a new screen name for security purposes. Did you ever resolve the issue that drove you to leave our midst? I hope you're feeling safer and more serene these days.

This really is the Hotel California. People always make a big deal about the fact that they're leaving but nobody really does I personally never made a big deal about anything. I deleted my posts and then had the Admin do it for me in a batch delete and that was it. I also deleted my account a few times on 2peas and started over, because I felt like it.

No. But I am 99% sure the problem was not caused by anyone here and that's good enough. And I don't feel safer. I don't think there is any real safety on the internet. I would have come back sooner but I didn't remember how to find this place. My computer bit the dust and I lost all my bookmarks. Then I found the link months ago and did a new account, but did not feel the need to post. I just PMd the Admin who had been so helpful so she would know it was me. A few weeks ago I finally got around to it and posted comments on a few threads. So as you see it's been a gradual process. I have a new laptop and new internet connection so its a little easier to get online', and also my new job does not mind if I read message boards during my reference desk shift.

Welcome back! I was just thinking about you a few days ago and wondering how you were doing. Sorry about the medical issues. I missed your input and I'm glad you're back.
And I LOVE that dress. I think it's beautiful, and so is your niece in it. I bet you all didn't know I had fluffy pink taste in dresses, huh?

But I don't mean to imply I think you should remember every detail of what I do or don't do! Definitely not. In fact, please don't. It's just contrary to my nature to make a big deal out of leaving anywhere. The idea of exploding in a fit of rage, swearing at people, and yelling "take this place and shove it!" Before stomping off... Ewww. like a train wreck, it's gruesomely entertaining to gawp at, but I don't want to be the one crashing the train.

Mariah, come and go as many times as your wish. I have also done the same on at least one ocassion. . I'm just making an observation. Scrappower made a big deal out of it and I see she's back and involved quite heavily. As I said, nothing derogatory meant towards you; it's just no one really ever leaves. As far as remembering everything you say, I have never been one of those who keeps a score card of any type.

I have to ask...did anything happen with your Mr. Darcy? I enjoyed reading the threads about it before you left. ----------- Oh Barnaby. He was such a player. Not really. We had dinner a few times after I left my job and also texted a bit, that's all. He's a player and it strokes his ego to be flirty with women he has no intention of actually dating. It stung a little bit and I confronted him about it, he said he knows he does that and he was sorry and was working on it.
I'm sure I could text him and he would reply, I could ask him out for lunch and he'd say sure, but I just didn't want to anymore. When I thought about the things he did to really convince me he was interested in me romantically, it really ticked me off. I'm not mad at him but I didn't want to be friends with a guy like that. Live and learn, right?

I did tell the people who contacted me privately., and the Admin, that I would possibly return in a few months when things had resolved. What you are saying is exactly why I would never flounce off in a huff. Then you come back, having made a display of yourself, and it's embarrassing. To me, it would be. It's also why I never come back with a dramatic flourish, HEY Y'ALL IT'S MEEEEE!!!

It was more me, I had started to have a crush on him and he wasn't interested in me that way so I thought it better to just let it all lie. And yes he did know I was writing the "stories", he was amused to be called Mr Darcy, but he never expressed any interest in seeing my posts.

I guess history has shown otherwise as well. I have a good friend who works for the Catholic Church. She told me she felt like she should apologize for them, to me. She was so appalled. The upper leadership used to be former ministers and priests, who also are librarians. But they've retired. Now its different. Yet again, live and learn.

I have no idea who you are talking about but I highly doubt that someone was sooooo jealous of a librarian with a boyfriend who only exists in her head - so much so that she ran you off a scrap booking message board. I think you have a lot of imaginary things in your head.

Wow! This thread is all over the place! I like the dress, and she looks so cute in it! After reading all the comments about the background of the pics I had to go back and see what they were seeing! I love that you have a broom collection - very unique. I see that you have at least one Bobbsey Twins book. I collect those because I liked reading them when I was a kid. They are getting more expensive to buy, and I have thought of selling my collection.
I remember the Mr. Darcy stories - they were entertaining! Welcome back. I look forward to future stories you may share with us!

I had a bookcase headboard full of paperback Trixie Belden books. I remember organizing them by color once. (The books were the same color but the titles were different.) I love the brooms! I have some hand-woven Korean rice scoops hanging up by my kitchen window. Kind of a similar esthetic.
