Hi,
I just finished watching Tiffany's free organizing series over at scrapbook.com, and she does have some great ideas. However, I just can't afford to buy all of the Scrap Rack components.
Have you made your own notebook system? Maybe using 12x12 ring binder albums? I would like some good ideas because I scrap mostly away from home with a group of close friends, and I take way too much stuff, and then spend too much time looking for things.
Cheers, jamh

I had some ginormous 3-ring binders (like 3-4 inches thick) that I used for a while to store my alpha stickers, themed stickers, borders, etc. I just used regular page protectors. When we moved and I had better storage available, I changed it. I never did have space to let the binders lay out on a counter, so I had to put them away when I was finished.
I've heard of some peas buying catalog holders from ebay or other places to make their own scrap rack type of thing.

I had a few Crop in Style PSBs (paper sticker binders) that I used for stickers and stuff for a while. It really isn't a practical solution for someone with a ton of stuff though. For someone who mostly scraps away from home, I think putting together kits would be a better option so you're not dragging along everything you own to a crop. Even though parts of it are portable, I think the main idea behind the Scrap Rack is that it's a system that stays put for using at home.

I really want some of the embellishment pockets, but I don't know if I could justify spending around $10/sleeve for them.

I organize all my stuff in bins. All related embellies, etc go in the plastic scrap bins and stack on the shelf. I liek this was much better than dealing with binders. Back when we all had flat stickers and they were small sheets, a binder system like a PSB worked well, but this system is not good for 3D IMO.
I have a friend with 3 scrapracks packed full in her scraproom. I can't imagine giving up that much scraproom realestate with scraprack type binders.

Big plastic bins for flowers; beads, buttons, and sequins; metal embellishments (which won't even all fit in there because I used to have a little brad-buying problem); tags and journaling; and lots of bins for ribbon and fibers. My stamps are also in bins by theme. But I still have a PSB, too. Fewer stickers in there now, but I also store rub-on sheets in there and other odds and ends of "flat" embellishments.

Cheers, jamh I ALWAYS take way too much stuff. I went to a friends last Sunday for a card making day and I had two full rolling totes and my stamping stuff. I borrowed her cuttlebug and cricut. I scrap digitally now, but I still make cards and other paper crafts. I just finished watching Tiffany's class, too. I didn't get much out of the class and each video felt like commercials for her products. Personally, I thought that the Scrap Rack would take up WAY too much room on a craft table or desk. When I did paper scrap I had my paper stored in Cropper Hopper vertical storage bins labeled by solids, stripes, dots, plaids, beach, Christmas, camping, words, watercolor, etc. I did not take apart kits or coordinating papers. Small embellishments have always been a problem for me. I've tried several systems and right now I'm using round stacking containers, but I'm thinking of switching to the Craftmates compartments. The only thing that I did like from the class and purchased (from Amazon at $12 per pack of 10) was the storage pages for 12x12 papers => Totally-Tiffany SRSP-P40 Scrap Rack Basic Storage Page, Super Sized Single, 10-Pack. Tonight I'm sorting my scraps by color and keeping each color in one of these pages. Currently they are in an IRIS 12x12 box all jumbled together. I keep all scraps bigger than 2x2. I'll report back on how they work out. I'm doing a total re-org and clean-out of crafty room so I've watched a lot of YT videos recently.

I put my stuff in big bins sorted by theme for themed items because that's how I primarily scrap (and shop). Anything that's not a specific theme is sorted by type of product unless I bought it with a particular project or subject in mind, then it goes with the other things for that subject. For example, I've bought a ton of papers to use with pics I have of DD, so even if they are just general florals, stripes, polka dots whatever, I put it in the bin with her stuff. It just makes it easier when I have an idea of what I want to work on, I can just grab the bin of stuff for that kind of project and some coordinating cardstock and it's all right there.

I'll report back on how they work out. I tried the CraftMates locking organizers with 16 compartments for my small embellishments and they were a pain in the butt. Either the container had too many slots for what I wanted to put in there or not enough, and I ended up juggling too many of them. I switched to 25 compartment ArtBin bead organizers with slide off lids, and they are SO much better. For my scrap paper I have been using several three drawer 12x12 Sterilite stacking organizers. I keep them right under my desk so I can quickly pull something out or throw something in. I put one color family per drawer, and I'm hoping that once I really get rolling with working on stuff again I'll use up more scraps. When I get a pile of cut up junk on my desk, I trim off the ragged sides and sort into piles by color and toss them into the drawers. Trimming them keeps them from getting hung up on each other. I like this system the best because the scraps don't get dusty or bent up and I can find what I want pretty quickly because I can pull out the whole drawer and flip through what's in there if I need to.

I have a ScrapRack and the Crop Binder. I used to break it down and take it with me in one of the rolling crates from Office Max with the hard plastic top. The whole thing could be easily broken down and set up on top of the crate.
Now I find that most of the stuff in the ScrapRack is my older stuff that I don't use much. I tend to take kits with me to crops now and my plastic divided embellishment boxes that are sorted by color, and a few more that hold wood veneers, sequins, flair, and paper clips. This works much better for me.The whole sorting by color was definitely inspired by Tiffany's system.
What I love right now is her Project Planner pages. I buy them on Amazon since I don't pay shipping, and I put my kit club kits in them and any kits that I put together myself. I match up pictures to kits and find this SO much easier to take to a crop. I'm still taking too much stuff, but I do find myself way more efficient this way.

A friend offered baby food jars so I might take her up on that. Plus of course i over spent my reorganization budget and need to stop buying.

I've been emptying out a ton of boxes of stuff from when we moved, and discovered I have a bunch of the Cropper Hopper page planner things. They were full of stuff brought back from trade shows back when I still had a storefront--which was over 14 YEARS ago, LOL! Once I get more of this mess sorted out, I think they'll be great to organize the projects I want to work on.
