Please solve a teeny dispute in my household. I have always stored maple syrup in the fridge, whether it is the 'real stuff' or store bought. My husband thinks I am crazy and says it BELONGS in the cupboard so it is not cold when it is time to put it on pancakes, waffles, etc. So...where do YOU store it?

FRIDGE! We put the real stuff (from the store, but the $15 a bottle stuff) in the pantry once and when dh poured it on his pancakes the next time there was mold in it Now, the cheap Aunt Jemima stuff, that goes in the pantry.

Real stuff goes in the fridge. Fake in the cabinet/pantry/what have you.

In the cupboard.
We have had similar disputes in my house regarding tomato sauce (or ketchup as you would call it. I lived the first 30 or so years of my life storing it in the cupboard before I read the label and realised you are supposed to store it in the fridge after opening.
What does it say on the maple syrup label?

I've never bought the real kind so I just keep it in the cupboard. Out of 5 in our family only two of us even like syrup anyway.

Real goes in the fridge. I stored it in the cabinet once and it got mold in it. Yuck. When we use it I pour a little out into a small glass container and heat it up in the microwave.

I always buy Mrs. Butterworth and she gets stored in the cupboard. I don't like cold syrup on my pancakes or waffles.

Fridge. I only buy the real stuff & it's too expensive to let it get moldy. (Made that mistake exactly once!)

If the bottle says refrigerate after opening, then that's what I do. A rebel, I am not!

I store my real stuff in the pantry. Never had mold on it either (knocking on wood). I don't like cold syrup and I'm too lazy to warm it up. I don't buy the fake stuff anymore.

We make maple syrup. Once it is opened, it needs to be refrigerated. If not opened, it can be on a shelf. Maple syrup is a 'perfect' food like honey. It will last forever. If it gets moldy, you simply reboil it and skim it off

My uncle makes his own maple syrup, so we only ever have the real stuff. We keep it in the fridge and always warm it up in the microwave before pouring it on pancakes or waffles!

Real syrup in the fridge and it gets warmed before we eat it. Fake stuff is in the cupboard.

Fridge. We only buy actual maple syrup, but it wouldn't make a difference. I'd store Aunt Jemima type stuff in the fridge, too.

Hmm. I never bought the real stuff so we always keep it in the pantry. I have some of the real deal that I bought when a recipe called for it not long ago; didn't know moldiness was a possible issue. Now I may check it and move it to the fridge.
