We are considering going to this park. We thought since it was by tram it would be okay for our mom who walks with a cane. They also offer wheelchairs.
I was looking at the tickets and online the basic admission includes all the shows, Africa tram and cheetah run. And then I see bunches of additional safari options at additional ticket prices.
Is the basic admission good enough to enjoy the park?

The Safari Park (it will always be The Wild Animal Park to me, but the name has changed) is totally worth the price of admission. The tram ride exhibit is well worth it, alone. It has been many years since I have been there so I am not sure about wheelchair accessibility.
Be advised there was a recent story in the local news about a bat with rabies being found in the park, so make sure all is well at the park before you go!

We did this a couple of years ago. Well worth the $$. You can do a behind the scenes tour too (which looked amazing) but that's a lot more $$.
It's a great wildlife park

Just FYI in case you don't know, it is not close to downtown or the zoo. It is inland near Escondido. The weather has been warm this week so far, so be prepared for that too. It's a great place to visit and while hilly, a wheelchair should be ok.

We have never done anything more than the tram, free shows and walk around the exhibits (everything included in the basic admission) and it is one of my favorite places to take visitors.
There is an ADA shuttle that can take someone from the entrance to certain spots in the park like the tram station, but if you really want to walk through to the tram and see the gorillas. etc., on the way so I'd recommend renting a wheelchair.

The price alone is good. The tram ride was ok. They may have wheelchair accessible carts but not in the one we rode. Personally I would have preferred the Jeep safari but stupid me bought the wrong one. The cheetah run is good, I paid extra which gets you up front so you don't have to sit out in the sun. BTW in that same area they have a water play area for the kids, nice to walk through and get misted or the feet wet. Further down the path there is a great spot where they have the misters on near the lagoon..there is a restaurant there..great place to take a rest. Plenty of shade, cool mists, nice frozen treat..and beautiful scenery.

I love this park but the tram is no where near the entrance so plan on renting a wheel chair. It's also much hotter there than in San Diego... It is inland in Escondido. There's a cool interactive zebra called Robert. I think that's my son's favorite thing there that's not extra (he really loves the carousel). You talk to a zebra on TV and he'll talk back to you and even say your name.
