The bookshelves are filled with almost 100 completed scrapbooks (covering 10 years or so), most of which are CM. I scrap chronologically, yearly, and have several years with 3 or 4 books. My "plan" was to have the same style/color book for the entire year, and mostly that worked. There are a few that I had imprinted on the spine with the contents, and at one point CM had a "charm" that loosely was hooked to the top of the spine. I have a couple of them. For the most part, however, the blank spines look great on the shelf....
But, last night I went to look for a specific page and went through multiple books, and still couldn't find what the heck I was looking for. Is there anything currently out there similar to that charm, or perhaps something else cute/classy that would help me figure out which shade of blue book was 2002?

I bought these little brass bookplate clips that slide over the top of the spine from a stationery store. I use different coloured cardstock to make the labels so I can identify Holiday, Family etc albums. I just wish I had bought more because of course now I can't find them and I'm down to my last 8. As a last resort I'm thinking of just using my label maker to at least record the year on the spines. Like you I was recently looking for a particular layout and could not find it! Corinne

What a good idea! I would love something like that. I am impressed that you have that many srapbooks. I don't have too many, but we are limited on space, so that's part of the reason. But I would like to label the ones that I have with the year and the child.

Corinne I saw some of these at a thrift store last weekend. Now I'm thinking I should run back and get them. What a great idea. I can never remember which book is which

I bought as many of these Basic Grey Capture Metal labels I as could. link They are self adhesive and give my albums a nice cohesive look.

I agree on the bookplate idea. But with the number of albums you have and depending on your budget, you might consider a DIY option and create some type of tag or label you can clip onto the spines.

We used to imprint the CM spines (that are removable) at Family Christian Stores. Its like $6 a line, but looks nice.

Thanks for the links. I need to do something like this too for some CM albums. I found some adhesive spine labels in an office supply store but might look at some of these other ideas as well.

Thank you for all the ideas! I kind of like the ribbons - will play with that idea and see what happens. I'll post when it's done.

The binder clip idea reminds me of the tons of book plates I own that has the holes for eyelets.....I use the 3 ring binders which come with the plates on them, but that would be an easy and cheap alternative.....
