Scrapbook Territory in Berkeley is closing down. Sale starts this Saturday, last day of business will be May 3. It's my closest big scrap store and this makes me so sad. But I'm definitely part of the problem, because I don't shop as much as I used to. Her email said that business is down over 50% from the height.

The last several times I was there I couldn't find much to buy, but I'm still really disappointed. This leaves online shopping as pretty much the only option.
I guess this will force me to use my stash.

this is a sad reminder that we all should support our LSS. I admit I haven't been to mine in a while because I am glut full of supplies. but, it wouldn't kills me to spend a few dollars over there if it keeps my LSS open that much longer.

I'm totally bummed by the news. So where to go when you want to match cardstock to your papers?
I have not been scrapping for a while except a little project here and there but have recently been wanting to start up again and planned to go to this store to shop.
Is scrapbook island the last store in the Bay Area?

Is scrapbook island the last store in the Bay Area? It's the last big store. There's a stamp store in Fairfield (Mainely Stamping) and I think Cranberry Hill Mercantile is still going in Sunnyvale. There are probably a few others dotted around, too. Some of the nicer paper stores sell paper craft supplies, too. Like Paper Source in Walnut Creek and maybe some in Berkeley and SF?

That is very sad. You know if the crowded Bay Area can't support it, no place can.

Paper Source has some scrapbooking supplies, but their markup is ridiculous. Everything was less expensive at ST.

That's really too bad. I visited Scrapbook Territory when I was in San Francisco. It was a great store.

So sad. I miss the good old days when there were several LSS to choose from in the Bay Area.

Scrapbook Island's Creative Escape in Los Gatos (formerly in San Jose just moved down the street and changed the name) Is still going strong. They moved to a bigger location and have a ton of space. They have a big vintage section and lots of great scrapbook supplies. So worth the drive. You can see their classes and crop on line. You are always welcomed there to crop and shop!

lucyg - I am so sorry that your LSS is closing. It always breaks my heart a little when I hear of another LSS shutting their doors. I know that sounds corny but hey I'm a scrapbooker and I'm allowed to be corny! I'm many, many miles away from the store that is closing but it makes me sad because it's another little bit of deterioration in the fabric of a hobby that I love and derive much happiness from.
