I feel your pain. I'm using WW online, but some days are better than others

Let's see...I've been dieting for around 11 years and I have to say that I STILL feel hungry a lot. I've been successful - losing so far a total of about 130 lbs. And I've done it all the old fashioned way, eating less and moving more. But food is STILL a constant struggle for me. I love food, I love to eat...and that just doesn't mesh well with losing weight. LOL That's why it's taken me so long. I have about 40-50 lbs more to go. When I get REALLY hungry, I try to find something to do that keeps me busy for a while. If I'm still starving when I'm done, then I eat something. If I'm not then I know I wasn't really hungry.

Do you remember that old Stephen King movie, the Cat's Eye? I keep thinking about the stop smoking program and it would probably take something like that for me to break up with food.

Miss Ang has it! I had to eat frequently and really eat good stuff. Once I stopped all fast food, pre packaged food, and junk...I was doing way better! ((hugs))

I also started WW recently. I'm doing the online one, which requires more willpower than the meetings, at least for me. There is no hunger aspect with this one because fruit and vegetables are all free. ALL free. I absolutely love vegetables and usually fill half my plate in broccoli (especially since Love Labs gave me the recipe for roasting it in the oven) It tastes nothing like regularly cooked broccoli at all and I'm going through Costco bags of it every week.
I have two major problems with trying to lose weight. First, I'm on a bunch of medications that cause weight gain. I'm going to talk to my doctor next month to see about coming off of one and just taking something as-needed in its place.
Second, I don't feel hunger pangs due to the pain meds I'm on. And that isn't the great thing you might think it is. Not feeling hunger coupled with the rapid weight gain from the meds led me to lowering my food intake way too low. I had been doing that for the past couple of years. I've had so many people tell me that I'm not eating enough and I laugh because my butt says differently. My son and my doctor finally convinced me that my body is in starvation mode and hanging onto every calorie. It's also a reason that I've been so fatigued all the time.
Once I started the WW program and saw how much you are supposed to eat in a day, I was shocked. It had been so long since I ate more than my oatmeal for breakfast one other meal for dinner with no snacking, that it has been hard to remember to eat more often. That isn't the plus it sounds like. I get busy and realize I missed lunch and haven't had any snacks. Then I try to cram in all the necessary points and I get so full I feel like I could go lose it all.
I'm getting better. I've been setting an alarm on my phone to tell me to go eat something. The weight is coming off sooooo sloooow though. And finding enough points to eat in a day is not as easy as you would think it is when you love fruits and vegetables, but you don't get any credit for eating them. I like fruit as a snack and will eat a big bowl of strawberries, but it doesn't count toward my point total. I don't want to give up my healthy choices to just eat crap to fill the point quota. I could be downing ice cream and chips to ramp up those points, but I really prefer clean eating.
And if you saw my butt, you would swear I wasn't on a diet at all. It's frustrating. I think once my treadmill is fixed and running again, things will start moving again. I haven't gained or lost anything in the last month. That is really discouraging.
And Brandy, I just wanted to add that you look AMAZING in your photo. And your little kids are not so little anymore. I so enjoyed all the pictures you used to post of them. I hope you will be doing that again on this board. It's good to see you again!

Thanks, everyone! I know I need to do this for my health (not to mention my vanity). I need to stock up on fresh veggies to give me something to munch on when I am ravenous.

Lexica - thank you! My pea friends that are also Facebook friends see my updated weight loss photos but since I've been absent from the peas board for a while, I haven't shared. Here's an updated pic that I just posted this week. (Hopefully it works!) And yeah, the kids are too big. They're growing/getting older much too quickly for my liking. Nate is now 11 and the girls will soon be 10.

Thanks MaryMary! I should've mentioned the pic on the left is 2003 and the one on the right was taken yesterday. In the before pic, I'd already lost about 60 lbs. For the first time in my entire adult like, I'm able to buy off the rack for the most part. Once I get down 1 more size I should be able to shop in ANY store. I friggin' cannot wait!!! I'm hoping I'll hit that number by the end of the summer!!

Brandy, you look awesome! I am so thrilled for you that you have stuck with this long term. I have a problem hanging with a diet long term.

Thanks Donna. I haven't been great about sticking with it long term. I swear I've lost the same 40 lbs at least 5 times. LOL I'm about 5 lbs away from my lowest weight ever as an adult.

I started in April or May. 1100 calories a day. Then life happened. Fatty fell off the wagon. I haven't regained my small loss. But I haven't lost anymore either. I freakin' love food. Love it. And when I'm hungry, I want to eat. I feel your pain. I'm so over mantras right now.

Great job, Brandy! It's good to see you again after all this time. I'm still a Weight Watcher nerd.

Another one here doing WW online. Two weeks in and I've lost 5 pounds. I've committed to a six-month program to see if I can lose about 30 pounds.
I have some days when I'm hungry and other days when I don't seem to use up all the points. Right now I'm hungry and drinking water hoping to hold off until I get home for supper!

I started the 3 day military diet on Monday... Made it to dinner day 3 and said F@#K this, I'm starving and made myself a yummy stir-fry to enjoy with my hubs after eating tuna and hot dogs for two and a half days. *sigh*. I will get there someday..

Awww, thanks girls! I did lose the majority of my weight doing weight watchers. This time I've switched it up a bit and am using My Fitness Pal and counting calories and keep track of my exercise. I've lost almost 25 lbs doing that this year. I'm still liking it so I'll stick to it for now.
