At what point does my body surrender and stop feeling so hungry? I have 35 pounds to lose and whoever said "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" is the biggest liar that ever lived. EVERYTHING tastes better than being hungry.

Well Darling it's better to look good than to feel good..you want to look Maaarrvelous!!!
I started about a week ago doing WW, but will confess I bought these Creative Biosceince Engergy Appetite capsules to beforehand. I won't say I have energy but they do curb my appetite so it helps not feeling hungry constantly..when I take them of course.

I've heard if you starve for several days, eventually you stop feeling hungry. Other than that, I've got nothing. I'm always hungry. Think I'll go eat something now.

How many calories are you consuming? When I get hungry, I eat more and move more.

One of my friends said, "to lose weight, you have to realize two things. 1) You have to exercise. 2) you will always be hungry" I think I died a little inside that day.

I started the 5:2 diet this week. Yesterday was one of my "fasting" days and it was pretty brutal. However, I didn't wake up hungry like I thought I would and despite what I said before bed last night, I did not actually eat the entire fridge upon waking.
I'm thinking I can keep this one up...we shall see I suppose. Best wishes to you and everyone else who is on a weight loss journey, it sure isn't an easy thing to do!

I started the 5:2 diet about 3 weeks ago. I remember the first few days were horrible but after about the 4th it really did start getting better. I can do a 500 calorie day now without wanting to punch someone in the face because they were eating in front of me.

How funny my2apps2 that we posted at the same time. I am also surprised that I don't do a major calorie binge the next morning!

How funny my2apps2 that we posted at the same time. I am also surprised that I don't do a major calorie binge the next morning! I was shocked (shocked I tell ya!) that I wasn't a ravenous animal this morning. But it really was easy! I do need to work on spreading my fasting day foods out throughout the day though, I didn't do so well with that but it's a learning process I suppose. Are you finding it easy to stick to? I'm pretty encouraged by the success my friend has had, so I'm cautiously optimistic...

Right there with you! I started the summer just cutting out grains and sugar but wasn't losing so I'm back on WW (minus grains and sugar) for accountability. And I am STARVING most of the time.

I lost 65 lbs. (and gained back 40, but that's ANOTHER story for ANOTHER day.... I'm working at getting that back off again.) Anyway, I lost 65 lbs. by eating right and exercising. I was never hungry. I just changed what foods I ate and I ate about every 2-3 hours. I had 3 meals a day and had at least 2 snacks; usually the afternoon and again in the evening. I had the occasional real-deal pizza but usually I made something that would satisfy my pizza craving. Same thing with desserts. I just figured out things that satisfied the cravings and learned to enjoy that food. But then I went back to work and I got out of the habit of meal planning and food prep over the weekend and now after work I come home exhausted. Instead of messing around in the kitchen I've been grabbing fast food on the way home, or ordering a pizza or coming home and going out with my family to a restaurant. That means $$$ and +pounds. It was a vicious cycle that nearly put me back to my starting point. But I can't change it, so I'm picking up where I'm at and getting back to those healthy habits I learned. You can do it.

I am trying to stick to around 1500 calories a day. I am moving more, too, but I haven't noticed that making the hunger lessen.
I tried the 5:2 diet awhile back and was too miserable on my fast days, then would overeat on my normal days and gave up.
I used to eat like a million calories a day, so my body is freaking out.

What happened to gluten free and whatnot? It was helping you to feel better, right? (that tone is not accusatory, I promise)

What happened to gluten free and whatnot? It was helping you to feel better, right? (that tone is not accusatory, I promise) I was gluten/sugar/dairy free for about 9 months when we first started our Lyme treatment. Once we had been on antibiotics for about six months, we didn't notice a difference when we would eat gluten, so we stopped. Because eating gluten free is a pain in the butt, and expensive. I did lose weight while on that diet, and briefly considered going back to it because I wasn't starving. But, my family would not appreciate it. Also , I like dairy a whole lot.

Here is what I have eaten today or will eat this evening: Breakfast: Huge bowl of watermelon (450g) and a medium banana 2 big cups of coffee with a 1/2 tbsp. of creamer and a packet of Stevia in each Total: 250 calories Snack: 100 calorie Greek yogurt (Aldi brand) Total: 100 calories Lunch: BBQ Chicken "pizza" 1 Flat Out wrap, multi-grain w/ flax 1-1/2 servings of fat free shredded cheddar cheese 5 oz. leftover grilled chicken 3 tbsp. Stubbs BBQ sauce (My FAVE!) Total: 448 calories Snack: 3 boiled eggs, whites only (51 calories) Smoothie: 111g frozen banana, 1 packet of WW vanilla smoothie, 1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup skim milk and some ice (242 calories) Total: 293 calories Dinner: I haven't weighed out how much I'm going to eat just yet, but I'm putting a lean beef roast, carrots, red potatoes and some onion in the pressure cooker I try to get in a few healthy fats too so I will probably put a little olive oil or sunflower oil on my potatoes I'm estimating around 500 calories for dinner Snack: 150g frozen strawberries Sugar free chocolate pudding cup Total: 113 calories Total for the day: Around 1700 calories That's a lot of food and overall, a pretty good day I am heading to the gym in a bit and will burn around 900 calories. If I am still hungry this evening I will eat a piece of string cheese and some raw almonds. This is a typical day for me. Of course, I don't burn 900 calories every day, but 3 or 4 days a week I do. And yes, I like fat free cheese just fine and yes, I know there is artificial sweetener in the sugar free pudding. I'm ok with that in moderation.

I am impressed with your sticktoitiveness and will power. My weight hasn't changed much in 30 years but it is rearranging itself on my body. I could be in a jello commercial I jiggle so much! I need to get my butt moving but I lack the gumption. I looked on Amazon but they are all out of gumption and motivation doesn't have free shipping.

I'm just finishing week 3. And I'm sorry to report I am still starving. Ugh.
I'm on a doctor ordered 1200 calories a day and walk 10,000 steps a day. I've only lost 4lbs and feeling pretty discouraged
I use a Fitbit and My Fitness Pal to track food and walking.
Oh. And did I mention I'm STARVING?!?
(I am a cartoon face until I can find the avatar picture of my mini-Doxie )

Was just talking about this on a MyFitnessPal thread I just started. I have very little willpower but have been doing great on it (and have not added in exercise at all yet, and do NOT subscribe to trendy eating plans, etc). See it if interested in full info

I can relate! I started the MRC program last August (Metabolic Research Center). The premise of their plan is keeping your metabolism up and burning stored fat by eating lots of protein. I was starving to the point that rocks were looking mighty tasty the first week, but that's because my body was used to a strict pizza / cheetos / diet pepsi rich and delicious diet that landed me on their doorstep to begin with. After the first week I was fine, and I cannot believe how much more energy I have. Getting past the first week is key... good luck to you!

Those are the two things I hate most in life. Me too. And that is why I am, like, thirty (more like forty, she whispers to herself) pounds overweight.

DH and I are taking a month and cutting out grains, sugar, and dairy, and I just might cut someone if I can't eat some chocolate. That being said, we're on day 4 and it's starting to get a little better. I have lost 4 pounds of what I suspect is water weight, and I'm really starting to realize how much sugar we ate. I thought we were pretty healthy before, but after this week, methinks not so much.

IF you have lost 1 lb you are on your way.
If you have lost 5 you are kicking it!
If you have lost >5 you are awesome sauce! Keep up the fight!

IF you have lost 1 lb you are on your way. If you have lost 5 you are kicking it! If you have lost >5 you are awesome sauce! Keep up the fight! Hey there!
I'm always hungry. Always. At first it's at the center of your mind, much like a THIRD EYE. Smack dab in the middle of your forehead, so much so you start thinking bright pink post it notes look delicious. Then the hunger moves towards the back of your mind, where you start thinking, "ok I can make it till lunchtime" but you only manage to do so by drinking tons of water and the 6 little itty bitty almonds or the ONE piece of candy you are allowed daily while imagining it's a bag of Doritos. Then you get to fit into size 14 jeans and your ass looks great and you notice some hot chick checking out said ass, and then you come to terms with said hunger.
I don't speak from experience. Not at all.

I am slightly discouraged by my results so far but I think the majority of the problem is that this has been a busy month so I have not been able to exercise much. Also, because of dd's softball games and weekend trips I haven't been eating the best on my non fast days. A lot of eating out. Softball is done this weekend so I am hoping that the month of July will have better results.

I feel your pain! I've been playing with the same 10 lbs for months now....up and down, up and down and I'm OVER it. I started WW...again....and gave myself a frickin' headache trying to make it to lunch. I've come to the conclusion that I need to eat in "diamond" form (if that makes any sense)--small breakfast w/ lean protein, big lunch, small dinner. Each meal needs to have some lean protein and I need a snack of some sort between lunch and dinner or I go into full "eat everything not nailed down" mode. I'm hoping with my 5 day/week workouts (boot camp, insanity, and personal training/weights) that I'll lose the 10 I've been playing with for months and move on to the may other sets of 10 lbs I need to lose!
