twistedscissors, your kitchen redo is fabulous. I looked at your pictures when you first posted. I wanted to know how big of an area did you do for your floor and where did you get all your paper bags? Thanks for answering my questions. My floor is about 190 sq ft. I bought a roll of paper at Lowes for like $10 and I think it covered around 400 sq feet. Of course it takes more than 190 sq ft of paper cause you overlap edges as you put it down. Counting paper, stain, and polycrylic I have around $75 in my floor. Did you just lay it out in a big sheet like wallpaper or did you tear off pieces and then lay them down? Also, if you tore off pieces did you wrinkle them up before laying them down? I ask, because ever since I saw this floor on Pinterest, I've thought about doing it in one of my rooms because I really can't afford wood flooring and don't want to do tile or linoleum.

WOW, I am impressed ! You did a fantastic job. My friend was telling me about the paper bag floor and told me she was thinking of trying it. Going to send her some pics of your floors.

Tear it in pieces and wad it up. Here's the tutorial I used. It's pretty detailed. lovelycraftyhome.com/2011/11/09/the-ultimate-brown-paper-flooring-guide/?crlt.pid=camp.CjZb2GCjJQDU

Ya done good girl! Your kitchen looks amazing. So you did the concrete over your old counters? They turned out really good. I did a door and a table top in the brown paper years ago. Never thought of doing a floor. I love the way it looks. About 10 years ago I redid my kitchen and wanted concrete counters, but back then it was still new enough that I couldn't find anyone who could do it...so I am very envious of your counters!! Love them. Yes the concrete is over my existing counters. It was really easy. I found a video on you tube to learn how. Don't have a link to the exact one. I used Ardex brand Feather Finish. You can order it from Amazon. It wasn't hard to do, just a little messing and time consuming. Sanding was the worst part cause there was so much dust. Sealed with dry-lock brand concrete sealer and then I rubbed with beeswax and polished to shine.

I've wanted to try it for a while. I thought with the concrete stains they have now that a dark charcoal gray might be possible. My house has always been my "hobby". I love trying new techniques and doing all the work myself. I've done some crazy things over the years, usually with good results. It's nice to know there is someone else out there who has as much fun as I do working on their house.

This is really, really impressive. You should be very proud of yourself. Thanks for sharing.
(First I wrote, "I hope you're very proud of yourself," but it sounded like I was chiding a naughty child!)
When will we see pictures of the rest of your house? Have you been as hands-on in the other rooms?
