I'm pretty sure there was no suicide threat involved in Altoona.
And yes, it WAS someone with Diesel in her user name!

Don't some of those crime shows base episodes off real life news? Wouldn't it be funny if that story line is because some intern Googled and found 2Peas?

Altoona was some woman who, I think, brought her child to work and a co-worker smacked her child. I think she lived in Altoona and reported this woman to the police. I can't recall what happened, but I am pretty sure they worked at a charity and there was a whole bunch of other weird stuff involved. I guess my long term memory isn't as good as I thought it was!!! Yes, it was this. The Altoona reference is one that always gets mis-remembered as other things, but it was totally the child slap debacle! lol

Yeah, her kid was spanked and then the Altoona police were monitoring the thread or something. This is how I remember it as well. I think the coworker even came on and started posting, drama ensued and then the Altoona police were brought in. I also thought it was Altoona, WI, not PA.

My memory is fading. Altoona and Torn Bears were the same? Torn Bears wanted us to see her awesome house, was going to sew us, and coined Thrusday. Who/what was vagina sunsets? Vagina sunsets was the bitchy kitten heels woman. If my memory serves me correctly, she garnered so much ill will that the Pea researchers went to work and connected her to them, and she was basically ridiculed off the board.

I recant it was not tear bear lady it was the diesel lady. Man so mugh crazy, but two peas and now this board has amused me for years. I have learned so much and in some instances even changed my way of thinking about things. It in a way has become my secondary education.

I know the scrapbook store killers were from Altoona, PA. I had shopped at the store once or twice and actually stopped in Altoona the weekend of their arrests. Note on the store said 'sorry closed for family emergency' came home, logged into the P's and found out why!!! I think the board moved faster than the local news outlets There were a lot of crazies back then...ahhhhhh I do miss them:)

You would get major bragging rights for that. I love forensics and should have gone that direction as a career. But that show where the guy was in the hot tub with the heads was too much for my delicate senses. That poor victim couple. As Lucy said, they were just on vacation and got friendly with the wrong people. Such a senseless violent death.

Altoona was the suspected suicide threat. Her info was pulled up by TPTWere at the other site and given to the Altoona police. This was my recollection as well.

Peas can be crass, but I really don't think we are so terrible that we would turn a suicide threat into a long-running board joke. I think it was something else.

Still giggle inducing though.

I thought the reason it lived on in infamy is b/c the suicide threat (that the police checked into) turned out to be fake, the whole thing was just a Pea trying to get attention. That's why it is in Pea history. I thought it happened around the same time as a few other cons- people claiming to have no money for Christmas/prom/etc and peas sending donations, only to find out it wasn't true. And I also assumed it was Altoona PA, since i grew up in PA. Never thought to google and see if there are other Altoonas around the country! It was around the time I started scrapping and found TwoPeas, so I didn't know who was who back then.

I've been around for a long time, and have always been pretty active, but have a remarkably poor memory about board drama. I witnessed most of it, but there are only a few I remember well. Namely holier than thou summer mom and turkeypocalypse.

I just took a trip down memory lane with that link to the history post. Is it any wonder we come back here again and again?
I love this place and I love each and every one of you who play a part in this bizzare corner of the internet.

It wasn't from a suicide threat. It was from some young mom named Diesel something or other. She took her young toddler to work and the kid did something that made a coworker angry so she spanked the kid. And ms.diesel or whatever her name was came unglued and filed a police report and then claimed that the Altoona police were monitoring the thread.
I always had assumed it was PA, too, because I didn't realize there was more than one Altoona. I mean, really... Who knew that more than one state had an Altoona? But, it wasn't.

Farther back than Ladystars even. There was this crazy woman who used to buy torn bear paper piecings from EBAY. She would drive up the price like crazy. She would pay $200+ for these bears. The peas noticed it was the same woman buying them and a thread got started. As usual the woman showed up on the thread and the pile on began. She threatened to sew everyone and to file harassment charges with the Altoona police. It was classic two peas drama. She claimed she was wealthy and could afford whatever she wanted, posted pictures of her fancy watch and home. It was classic. I remember something like that! From years and years ago, right? Like 15 or so?

Wasn't there also an issue with one of the ladies that actually made and sold tear bears? She wanted didn't anyone else making and selling them? She thought she was being copied. Hers were special and original and she worked so hard on them, even though there were instructions everywhere on how to make them.

Don't some of those crime shows base episodes off real life news? Wouldn't it be funny if that story line is because some intern Googled and found 2Peas? Forensic Files does cover real-life crime stories, not fiction. That couple really did get murdered for no reason other than those crazies wanted to see how it would feel to kill people, and get away with it. Fortunately, they didn't get away with it in the end.

I understand the murders were true. I was referring to tying it to the Altoona Police.
