We've been in drought conditions for years. It is rough. We've lost over 800 homes to fires in the last 2 summers. I also teach at a school that has a huge play area for 700 kids that is grass. During the worst years, it is pretty awful, but having kids play (and they play all sports and games) on anything other than grass is also pretty dangerous. I don't know what the answer is.
I recently watched a story about this town in California and it's pretty scary. No water is coming out of any faucets. The story profiled a mom taking her children to the church every morning to shower and brush their teeth then taking them to school. Water conservation has to become a priority. I've been discussing ways to save water with my children.
