I can't believe that I'm this dense and can't for the life of me figure out how to print digital pictures in odd sizes such as 3x3, 4x4, etc. is there a tutorial or directions that some one could point out to me? I'm willing to purchase software if it is easier.
I use a laptop and I have windows 2010 just in case that makes a difference.
Thank you!

Scrapping simply, Walgreens & I think Persnickety Prints offers those sizes.
You upload the photo to the site & then select the size & add it to your cart. They will let you crop it based on the size you are printing (4x6 photo printed as 3x3 would need to be cropped).
If you meant printing from home, I use Photoshop Elements. I can crop to the desired size & print.

Where are you trying to print? a home printer or a one hour photo service or?
You need an image editing software to crop the photos into the "ratio aspect" of a square (3x3 or 4x4) digital photos have a ratio aspect that is rectangular be default. You can't put a rectangle peg in a square hole without cropping something off.
Then your printer must be able to accept square prints. Walgreen's has a instagram print that will print square but if you send a square print to their standard service it will stretch it to fit a 4x6 or a 4x5.3 (true digital)

Thank you Kristi and Voltagain for your responses. I'm trying to print at home. I never thought of my printer not allowing these non standard sizes. Perhaps that is the issue. Thanks again!

A home printer should accept non standard formats because you can put non standard size images in a word/works document and it will print. But if you take an image with an aspect ratio of a rectangle you can't make it a square without squishing the image in a noticeable way.
What program are you using to edit your images?

Use the collage function in Picassa to put odd sized photos on a standard background.
