My ipad is running on version 7.1.2.
A while back I "upgraded" to version 8, but it slowed everything down, and made it hang and crash.
So I went back to the prior available version. Lost a lot of app data, and it was a huge pain, but at least my ipad doesn't crash every 15 minutes.
Several updates have notified since then, but I'm askeered to update! I love my ipad, and I don't want it to become a brick.
If you have an ipad 2, are you current on updates, and if so, is your ipad working properly?

I didn't upgrade to 7. The calendar still talks to the phone and my desktop -- which is about the only thing I use the iPad for.

There was a time that things crashed for a few days but then it just stopped crashing and has worked fine since.

Our iPad 2 is totally updated (dh did the most recent update this weekend). If it were up to me, I would never have updated it to iOS8, because ever since, it runs extremely slow and freezes a great deal. I personally feel that it's unusable, and I use my phone for just about everything now where before I would have chosen the iPad.

I'm still at 7.1.2. Someday I'll upgrade.

I'm on 7.0.6
It crashes occasionally but is still very usable. I'll likely upgrade and buy a new one next fall,or whenever the new releases come out.

When I bought my iPhone 6 last fall, I asked about updating my iPad 2. At that time, the were strongly recommending that iPad 2 users NOT do the update. My iPad 2 had already been running slow, glitching, and crashing, so i decided not to update it.
A month or so, it was performing so poorly that it became unusable. The best guess anyone had was that some of my apps had updated and were causing issues, or that some OS files had become corrupted.
I finally did a factory reset and manually loaded a minimum amount of apps back onto it. It's working fine now, but I rarely use it. If I ever replace it, I'm going to consider getting an iPad mini.

I am on 8.2 which initially bricked it but Apple was able to restore. Soooooo slow. It now wants me to upgrade to 8.3. I guess it can't get much worse. Previous to doing that 8,2 update, it was running perfect.
I hardly ever upgrade because it always causes problems. My husband's completely died after one of the updates. I have to say, Apple was awesome and listened to my complaint/whining and gave us a new iPad. Most of the huge crowd was there because their device crashed after doing the update. Apple really needs to fix this.

I'm on 7.0.4 and since I rarely do more than check email and websurf, I'm not compelled to go through all the steps required to update.

The reason I don't upgrade is because I have to connect it to my itunes account. I'm just too lazy.

8.1.3 I've done every update except the last one and have never had problems. I'm now hesitating to do the latest update because of all the problems that I hear about.

I have the latest update and mine is ridiculously slow (and has been since the last couple of updates). I'd be willing to try the factory reset to see if it helps. I just can't justify replacing it since its purely a toy for me.

Previous to doing that 8,2 update, it was running perfect. That's exactly where I am. In one way I'm thinking it can't get much worse and it could be better....but who knows!

I'm running 7.0.3. It seems to only crash on Facebook, so I don't plan to update. Not going to ask for trouble.
