I am straightening my hair again. I just got it cut and colored last week. After the stylist straightened it; the shine and softness was amazing. Granted she is a professional and I am not. She used a spray wax; which I purchased.
But now my hair seems dry to me Not to touch but the way it looks.) I probably used my flat iron on too high of a setting (which I am prone to doing.) Is there a product I can put in my dry (as opposed to wet-between shampooing) hair to make it look smoother.
I tend to fry my ends and need something to help with this too. I am hair helpless. Thanks!!

I use a little argan oil on my ends, just a tiny bit. And yea the best thing is to not over do it on the heat tools. I try to only do areas that really need it. I also use Wen replenishing mist, which helps kinda restore and shine.
Do you use some sort of heat guard before you use straightener? I've always used Chi Iron guard, but I've seen other brands, i'm sure any would be fine. Using that is what make my hair soft after straightener.

Thanks scrapcat. I'll look for oil for my ends and iron guard for protection.

I'm having a problem this year with dry hair also. I have naturally curly hair. I rarely use heat on my hair. I let it air dry. I can't figure out what's going on with it other than I'm wearing it down more. That is the only difference. I tried some cholesterol on my hair. The very first time it was so soft and felt really good, and looked healthy. The time after that I didnt get the same results. Tried it again later got the same results as the first time. It's crazy. I read the ingredients and it does contain alcohol so I haven't used it since that third time. I'm really interested in everyone's input

How often are you shampooing? Could you stretch it one more day? I'm only washing mine twice a week these days. It helps a lot. You could also try going with silicone and sulfate free hair products. Those can be very drying for hair.

Make sure you're using a sulfate free shampoo. I use the 'not your mother's' line. It is relatively cheap for a decent quality product.

Don't know how old you are, but I have noticed that as I get older my hair has lost it's softness and has gotten frizzy. It used to be a bit curly, lots wavy-but now it is mostly frizzy and dry. I don't use any kind of heat tools, only air dry but recently (more than ever) I feel like my hair is dry and brittle. I think it might be the whole changing hormones of menopause that is causing it, but don't know for sure as I tend to blame everything that changes on me getting old.
