I actually don't like baked beans that much ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/R6yG4nI0YHiVm0wktwl4.jpg) but Dh will often have them on buttered toast for lunch or supper.

Yep, another baked bean in toast eater. I live in AZ for a few years and tried can after can of beans from the supermarket. I never found a good subsitute. I just didn't like them. I nearly cried when I found a shop with Heinz beans. I do put Worcestershire sauce in mine or spread Marmite on my toast first.

My mouth is watering now! I'm going to have to get dressed and pop over to the corner shop and buy some Heinz Beanz so that I can have beans on toast for breakfast! I might just pop a fried egg on top :-)

I live in New Zealand and baked beans on toast are a weekend breakfast staple. So yummy. We have them on toast with lots of butter.

I also eat baked beans cold out of the can - a good low fat low calorie snack.
I eat them out of the can too LOL!

Aussie her and bake beans on toast are very common for breakfast, lunch or even a quick dinner. It was often a Sunday night thing for us with scrambled eggs ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Your Sunday nights sound just like ours! Aussie, too. I'm actually not a huge fan of Baked Beans (though DH and kids are). I prefer tinned spaghetti on toast (with grated cheese on top) - I regularly make that for lunches. Definitely "yes" to the beans and cheese jaffles, though! Yum, yum, yum.

I grew up eating baked beans on toast, either Heinz or SPC.
Even better is a baked beans and cheese jaffle. A jaffle is kind of like a toasted sandwich, but enclosed so the filling doesn't fall out:

I also eat baked beans cold out of the can - a good low fat low calorie snack.
They're also an essential part of a full English breakfast with sausage, bacon, egg, etc
Or, as it's often called here on café menus - "Big Ass Breakfast" !
Haven't had the baked beans and cheese Jaffle, or baked beans and cheese in a toastie as it would be here - but I am just going to have to try it now!

Heinz baked beans is similar to bushes vegetarian beans in the U.S. Though if you want to go 'authentic' some stores like Harris teeter and smaller groceries sell heinz in the international sections, for a price.
We grew up with baked beans on toast, and spaghetti on toast also. My dads favorites. I never had it often but it was pretty common with families we knew in Australia.

This Canadian girl didn't realize there was any other way to eat beans! Our little saying when the kids were little was "bite of beans, bite of toast" so they would know to eat the two together...lol.

Doesn't sound remotely good. But I'm not a fan of beans in a can anyway. Always interesting to hear what people eat in other countries. I grew up in Germany and ate a lot of meat/brotchen and nutella/brotchen for breakfast which a lot of people think is strange.

We were there for three weeks and stayed at a B&B that served Heinz and I stayed at a friend's for 6 days and she served Heinz.

I have never eaten baked beans on toast but when I was a kid we used to eat pork and beans(cold right out of the can) on lays potato chips. Now that is a memory. I still love them. I hadn't had them in years and a few years ago I got them craving for them. I was so surprised that when I ate them they tasted just as I remembered they would.
Now this year I will have to wait for fun night to have them. Because lays potato chips (any chips) are a non no for us to have int he house now that we are eating healthy and losing weight.
The funny thing is I have 4 cans of baked beans in the pantry because husband went to the store on the way home from work one night and on the list was pork and beans and he bought baked beans. They are not good cold out of the can and they are not good on potato chips. might be on toast though.

I often have Beans on Toast for my lunch or at any other time if I just want a quick snack. Love them but they have to be Heinz of course ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) There's nothing than can compare to Heinz Baked Beans! It's a very healthy snack. ![:yeahthat:](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/yrGoHMAelQz8f2Qt0sjb.jpg) from me too. I think the recipe must have changed slightly as they are not as good as they used to be imho. i guess i'm alone on this but it sounds VILE! i don't want anything on my toast but butter and jelly/jam/maybe honey
![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/JvSt42CUoZ9LG952aAaF.jpg) How can you say that? ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/JvSt42CUoZ9LG952aAaF.jpg) What about scrambled egg or poached egg or spaghetti in tomato sauce (tinned, Heinz, not an Italian spaghetti) or grilled tomatoes or tinned pilchards or mashed banana or marmite or peanut butter or cheese (Welsh Rarebit!!) ? ? I think my jaw hit the floor on reading so many responses and realising beans on toast is not a world wide food!

Make sure you only buy the British Heinz Baked Beans (US version is nothing like them).

This thread has been bugging me and now I know why. When I lived in the UK, no one ever called them Baked Beans... it was Beans on Toast perhaps it was just my English X but I don't remember any friends calling them that, it was a great play date lunch.. all kids liked them and they were easy to prepare.. Silly difference but baked beans on toast just didn't sound right! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I dread to think of the percentage of the student population that survives term time on beans on toast. Cheap, tasty and nutritious. What's not to love? I have to say that the linked 'recipe' is a bit fancy. My recipe is beans....and toast. No Lea and Perrins and no cheese.
